Hello all,
So i just recieved an email offering me to to PEPC in Chicago the week of June 22 and accepted. I am definitely excited and just awaiting a confirmation. I'm hoping everything goes okay there. From what I see in everyone's signature, it takes roughly 2 months to go from PEPC to OKC? I'm just trying to get my time line sorted out. Any words of advice if i am accepted to do PEPC in Chicago? I'm all ears!!!! :rawk:

more like 4 to never depending on how you do at the PEPC.

1/4 of the poeple(including me) who went to NYC failed the MMPI.

so that means instead of getting a april/may class date ive been put off at least till october.

I don't think two months from PEPC to OKC is realistic anymore, it will take me 7 months, and I had no issues at the PEPC, and was hired for a center which was not involved in the hiring feeze. With all the people already backed up waiting for OKC, a Summer PEPC date may mean a 2010 OKC date.

Time heals all wounds. I applied August '07. Atsat'ed in March of '08, Pepc'd July 7, 2008, and hit OKC Sept 7, 2008. The OKC date was a 4 day notice. They called me on wednesday evening, and on Sunday, I was landing at Will Rogers. Always keep in mind, that anyone can get a last minute "slot fill" phone call.

Making it past the PEPC with tentative offer in hand is a big step. There is no doubt that they will need to hire. In fact, based on wash out rates or other factors, they may go in two directions. Either kick up the screen, so deadwood is screened out more effectively, or focus on training techniques so that more people make it through training and get certified. I'm leaning on a tougher screen. Compared to actual training, OKC is a vacation. Either way, they will need more bodies, and having your name on the list, even considerably higher on the list is money.

The goal now is to do what I didn't do. Focus on paying down outstanding bills. Save up some money if possible. If you have to move to your facility, it would be so much easier to have the money to make it as painless as possible. You're gonna want to focus on training. Then, a year from now, you could be where I'm at. Immersed in training, and having the time of your life. Good luck everyone. I know what y'all are going through, and waiting is a bitch, but totally worth it.

...annnnnnd back to randomly browsing this board.

around 11 mos. from my PEPC to OKC (might as well call it '1 year')

make sure you have a a job for the time being... or at least something else you can work on, such as a pilot's license

There is someone in my class who went to the NY PEPC in February, was called a few days later to come to OKC.....we PV in 2 weeks. That is the fastest I've seen
Maybe former military. If you have an active security clearance, that can speed things up.

im very jealous of that person.

but basically the bottom line is if you have a 4 leaf clover tatood on your rear or not.

you COULD get lucky and get to OKC super fast...or you could be like the other half of us and wait 8 months+.

I was prior military. I went to the NY PEPC in February. I'm going to OKC on August 20th. Roughly six months between PEPC and class.

Im still waiting to apply to PUBNAT 8 (or whatever its going to be called) if or when it ever comes out so take these questions as you will but, about getting asked to and through a PEPC would

-already working for a airline and going through the 10 year backround check help any?

-having a 4 yr degree, and my commercial SEL/MEL w/ instrument help?(soon CFI I hope)

-being 28.5(as of now) years old HURT any? I know the cut off age of 31.

-what happens if you need further consideration for medical? I have high blood pressure/cholesterol thats controlled with medication. I have a 1st class airman medical for flight but I know that this medical is considered a new medical.......how long time wise does it add before you go to OKC if you need further evaluation for medical?

.....and on a side note what states are still in need of people (terminal or enroute)? Im willing to go anywhere but Im interested in NY or around NY (PA,OH,VT,MA,CT) or TX.

Thanks anyone for your help!

I have a friend who said she will attend Chicago PEPC. I have few questions for you guys.

1. What does PEPC stands for?
2. How do know where you are going to be, in regarding with facilities?
3. a year waiting process from PEPC to OKC?
4. What kind of preparation she will ned for PEPC?

Many thanks in advance.

ps: I will try to steer her to this site soon enough.

1, Pre Employment Processing Center

2. She should get her TOL (tentative offer letter) during the PEPC and it will have the facility

3. Hard to tell, mine took a year, I heard one guy say it only took 2 months, It helps if you already have a clearence

4. None really, the interview is a breeze, the rest is just a physical, psych test MMPI, and security paperwork. There is a Sticky of PEPC interview questions http://forums.jetcareers.com/applic...ents/68308-pepc-interview-questions-here.html

If there are any credit or background issues, know them and be prepared to talk about them, just be upfront

I went through this process this time last year in fact almost to the date. Don't be afraid to ask for a class date. I went through the Chicago PEPC 05/22/08 and they told me I would be looking at a class some time in August. I said to them that I was really looking to going to next weeks class if that was possible (particularly since they were having a hard time filling it). She said hold on a minute left the room to talk to medical and security people. She then came back and said your clearances will not be done by then but they seem to think there won't be a problem so sure I will put you in the 05/28 class. Sure enough I came right home to an email with most everything I needed and was off to OKC the next week. A year later I'm half way through training at my facility.

Now I know classes are really full and a lot of things have changed over the year but don't be afraid to ask. If I wouldn't have I would have sat around and waited 3 months before going. Good Luck.

The only problem for us is that the ATO doesn't have money to fill the classes for training right now, which is why we're stuck waiting till October.

Oh, and I got SUS instead of STL, so I won't be joining you guys at Lambert. I definitely think the trip there helped, especially after getting to meet the ATM at T75, so thanks, ATC wannabe. :)

There is someone in my class going to SUS

PEP-C to okc was just under two months for me. I had my class date about 3 weeks after my PEP-C. Make sure you call your HR rep once a week at the same time until you get some type of definitive answer whether that is not until FY 10 or you get a class date. Just make sure you don't waste their time after they give you an answer:P. I also contacted my HR person for confirms when I sent new paper work in.
