I also applied to the national openings (AAC-AMH-08-PUBNAT1-08232, AAC-AMH-08-PUBNAT2-09140). I submitted the top 2 geographical preferences a couple of weeks ago, and the referral list status for those announcements still read:

No Referral Lists have been created for Announcement # AAC-AMH-08-PUBNAT1-08232

According to this thread, nationals are already being invited to the Memphis PEPC, and being told that they won't have the capacity to process everyone.

My questions are: When the hell will the Memphis applicants be notified if they are going to be selected for an interview? Will it be at the Memphis PEPC? Why does my national referral list status say it hasn't been generated when I'm seeing tons of people on here who applied in February being given OKC training dates? What is the order that they are selecting candidates, and for that matter processing the different job openings? Is it according to their geographical preference?

I realize we're dealing with the federal government which reserves the right to operate with no rhyme or reason, BUT if you happen to have a clue on this, PLEASE share the light. Confusion is like an ingrown toenail to me.:bandit:

To my knowledge no one who applied in February is "supposed" to be selected at this stage. There was one guy on here who claims he is going to Cleveland Center after having only applied in February. The rest of the guys on here who are being hired or selected applied in 2007 from what I've read. My guess is you should hear from the FAA very soon if the TN panel met this past month. Otherwise, you might be waiting until July for the Feb panels to meet.
 
Hey I received the same email as bushidomatt. I got it for the state of California, but I so don"t want Cali. I first applied in '07 for several states (including Cali), but NEVER received an invitation for the AT-SAT let alone an interview. This is probably due to the fact I probably didn't have enough work experience. Then I applied for Feb '08, took the test and got a well qualified score, and put my geo prefs as Indiana and Kentucky.

On ASAP there are no referral lists for '08, and my applications for my '07 apps have disappeared so I can't look at referral lists :(. I'm so confused. Should I take Cali and shut my mouth or wait around for the rest of the '08 OTS apps get processed and see if I can score something closer to home? ugh. lol
 
bluegrass_gal, same story here but I wanted out of the midwest because I can't stand winters and also want to get in before all of the national ots applicants due to seniority of scheduling down the road. So I am more than happy to accept Cali on both accounts
 
I chose SNA and will be glad to not have to deal with another MN winter if all works out.

Well with how the weather's been this week in CA you can expect a couple tornadoes and thunderstorms days after being triple digit temperatures.
 
Funny thing... I'm sitting here going thru the threads that have been posted during my absence and my first thought is, "Is Mateo's avatar Ont.....wait... yeah, it says it right there under 'location'" :)

Some people (like yours truly) who applied for state listings last summer did not get invited to test until March. I applied only to Minnesota openings last summer, then missed the Feb. OTS application and didn't get invited to AT-SAT until late Feb.

Once you take the AT-SAT the score applies to any open applications you have. The 2007 applications should just now be closing up in order to make way for the Feb national announcement. I wouldn't worry about not getting another shot. If you really want IN or KY I think you could take your chances and see if you get invited back to a PEPC in July. I was just selected for Indiana, but I don't want to move back so that's one unfilled position. Too bad you can't just take my place.
 
Uptowner, I actually had the same thing happen. I tested end of March after applying for the Feb announcement. I never got selected for the test on any of the 07 apps.
 
GRR. Horrible news for me. So I was chosen for Cali from last year's OTS job posting. I call to see if I was to turn it down if I could still be considered for Feb '08 announcement where I chose KY and IN...and she said no! Because I was chosen for Cali all of my other prefs were wiped out, and I would have to reapply all over again. THIS SUCKS! Looks like I'm moving to Cali.

At the risk of sounding like a total jerk here, why did you apply for a California position if you had zero interest in being there?

Stuff like this is why it looks like FAA has limited geographic preferences to two choices now...people who shotgun applications with no real interest in the location.
 
Dude I totally understand...just whining. I applied to all the postings last year in hopes of getting chosen just to take the test. Then I applied to the Feb '08 announcement and received an email saying I have been chosen to take the AT-SAT..and didn't even get that email till late April. I didn't even realize I was being considered for '07 still. It just stinks knowing I was so close to being able to choose a place closer to home, and now being somewhat forced to move across country. I totally sound like a baby lol....but hey I'm going to take it if they offer it to me.

bluegrass no worries, did they say you were selected for any particular spot(s) in Cali? Also did they offer you a pepc?
 
Well thank you bushidodmatt lol. Let's see I received the same email you did, and then I replied back saying I was still interested. I received another email yesterday confirming my PEPC for New York on either July 9th or 10th for terminal. I just emailed back requesting the 9th and hopefully I will get my confirmed time shortly. I have no idea what part of Cali, just that it is for terminal. I'm starting to warm up to the idea of Cali; I just wanna make sure I can afford the cost of living out there...way different than KY lol.
 
I hear you on the cost of living! I was given a choice of San Fran or Costa Mesa (John Wayne airport) and chose Costa Mesa due to the fact I could not afford to live anywhere near San Fran!! I am heading to the LA PEPC June 18 so should find out a lot in a couple of weeks. While I am out there I figure I will check out the area with my sweet rental car. Good luck out in NY!
