UND does not mail out notices any more. The only way you can see if you have an extra fee is to check your PeopleSoft account and logging onto that is like trying to fly to the moon with paper wings.
Yeah it really is. To top it all off, the first time they enacted that "feature" of not mailing paper bills, I had the name.name@nodak.und.edu account PLUS the nname@aero.und.edu account - WTF do they give us two and then not tell us that they sent the email to the nodak account that no aviation student checks? I finally had the nodak account automatically forward the emails to my aeromail account, which I rarely check anyway. I already have one email for work, then a Yahoo email account for personal use.

So... reality is, they did not properly notify us that all accounts receivable inquiries were going to "email only"... but hey, this is North Dakota...can't expect much out of the their knowledge of technology ... yeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaa.

TXAviator....I am as home sick as you are. I am from S.A. and graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State which is in Durant,Ok. It is only about 1 hour north of Dallas. It is'nt the best school as far as partying goes, but the aviatiion program is relativley inexpensive and really good plus like I said it's only 1 hour from the metroplex, five hours from Austin! Good luck with your decision, the only one that will look out for you is you..... so do what's in your best interest. Bet your bottum dollar as soon as I get through flying here in South Florida I am going home to Texas!

dude. READING SKILLS.

the site you quote says

3rd year - dependent student - 5500 FOR THE WHOLE YEAR

so thats 2250 per semester. which, is a hair under the total tuition and fees for UND for a semester in state.

i stated stafford loans do not cover my tuition, let alone the flying portion. are you seeing the same facts im seeing here, because im quoting right from the webpage you list.

Well, you got me there, I was independant at 21 for whatever reason. UND is not making the rule, the FED Gov, is, so OU wont be able to offer you anymore stafford loans than you are getting now. http://studentaid.ed.gov/students/publications/student_guide/2004_2005/english/general-dependency.htm <--- for the 2004-2005 year, but the rules are the same.

So far, from all this bickering, the only reason you have given for leaving UND is an $800 charge that was sent to an account you had easy access to, but didn't check??

Anywhooo, enjoy OU, you will most likely spend a crap load more money than you will at UND, but at least you can say you stuck it to UND by leaving right?

i swear to god you didnt read a word ive written.

the guidelines are set by the government but the school can interpret and override them at their discretion. OU chooses a more understanding policy of independent vs. dependent students. UND chooses a very literal and unwavering interpretation.

i gave several other reasons for leaving as well. i wont repeat them again, as you can scroll up and read them easily.

in short, dugie8 die in a fire.

Logically, what is simplier, send the bills to an account every UND student has or send them to the .nodak accounts for non aviation students, but send the bills to aviation students on there aero accounts? The help sheet you get for these email accounts shows you in there how to forward the nodak or aero account to another account? Why didn't you do this right away? The trend is popping up again....

man, i sure am glad youre a student and know what "help sheets" we get...

as of last semester we got paper bills mailed to us. the change to electronic notification only was done............... BY EMAIL.

ineffective communication of policy change on behalf of UND.

now, if we had absolutely no prior use for this email address they gave us, what would prompt me to go check it now?

Well, I just don't get why they give us two email accounts. I think they should just drop the .aero account and leave us with one. Make life a little easier.

You know what, I did misread and made some assumptions based off my past and others past at UND, there is no reason you cannot get independant status, I got mine because I was an AVIT student. But hey, you got it all figured out, good luck at OU and doubling your flight time.

Can I just ask a straight forward, non offensive, non argumenative question? When did Dugie8 graduate UND?

The aero account was created so you can get emails from leads, stage check assignments, etc without someone having to "manually" enter all your .nodak accounts into the system. Plus it is just cool to have an @aero email :sarcasm:

2001, December, but was actually done with classes in May, did the "internship" thing to push off student loan repayment for a while.

Again, factual fallacy. "there is no reason i cant get independent status" is patently false. UND has denied me independent status 3 times based on my age alone.

Thats great that you got yours because you had special treatment for being the kicka$$ guy that you are.

Times change pal.

Die in a fire.
