okay so after continually getting SCREWED by UND to the tune of "oh, you owe 800$... we emailed you about it... you cant register until you pay"....i am now very honestly thinking of transferring to OU.

they have a flight program

all my classes will transfer.

my flying ive done here will transfer.

cheaper tuition slightly.

cheaper housing/cost of living in OKC.

closer to Texas.

no bitterly cold winters.

lots of good weather for flying.

.... i see lots of positives in this equation.

thoughts?

I know a couple of people who went through OU Aviation. They both enjoyed it. Oklahoma State and Southeastern Oklahoma State also have programs. I went to OSU, it wasn't a very good program IMO. Although, I've heard that they have made some good improvements.

cool, thanks for the input. any idea how large the program is? (number of students?)

yeah the kingair possibility looked nice to me as well. i know Ostate has a program as well, but one of the things im looking to get AWAY from is the small-town vibe.... OKC is at least a reasonably sized town. any other differentiating things you know about ostate/ou?

also, do you know what the possibilities for instructing after graduation are? seems like with a more intimate program, the chances of instructing there after graduation would also be enhanced.... thoughts?

I personally chose O State for the small town atmosphere, because I grew up in a small town. Both OU and OSU have a nice campus and friendly atmosphere. OU has a newer fleet, but every time I fly into Stillwater I see new planes on the OSU flight line. I don't have any numbers, but both flight programs seem to be growing at a nice pace. If you get down this way, give me a shout. I live in the OKC area.

I didn't instruct at OState, but it seemed like most of those who wanted to instruct got a job there.

Don't let the door hit you in the a$$ on the way out...

Wow, OU looks like a decent program. They have 30 new Warrior's on the fleet. Jeremy, I know it's very difficult to deal with the issues with the Business Office and Financial Aide here at UND. They will never get it together. It's what, year 2006 now?

OU really looks great - larger city and close to New Orleans (well, somewhat close)...and GREAT food (southern BBQ!!!! yum).

cheers to you too, chump.
Well it is very simple. Pay your bills and you will not have this problem. UND is not a charity for you to ride on. Stafford loans more than pay for the flight costs for any course.

I don't know you from Adam, but I can see a theme here! How will you handle the situation when you are "screwed" by OU because of a lack of following their rules? We have all had unpleasant suprises from a college we attended, trust me I attended three plus a technical school. College is expensive, especially if you are an aviation major. I would hope you knew this going into the endeavor! I don't think that running from UND will solve your problems, especially over $800. If you do want to transfer for other valid reasons, and you do list some very valid reasons, then make sure you think it out very, very carefully. Believe it or not, there will be one day soon where you will have to explain why you transferred college half way through a degree program. Just remember and answer the question carefully and concisely. I personally think you are better off finishing where you are at, especially since you have so much invested. Good luck with the decision.

Oh knock it off! Did you take some of your wifes "woman" pills today, all this touchy feel B.S.! He is in for a shock if OU is a 141 school and only half of his time from UND transfes and ends up paying double what he/she would have paid at UND.

I personally thought he was nuts when he was listing one of the pro's as being closer to TX! C'mon home basing!

P.S. No wonder those pills I took didn't clear up my congestion!

a) stafford loans barely cover my in-state tuition. period. the government does not offer me subsidized loans either.

b) i would gladly pay my bills, IF THE UNIVERSITY WOULD ALERT ME TO THESE DEBTS WHEN THEY ARE INCURRED.

the university today informed me "this charge was incurred in january. you were notified by email, as we do not send paper billing statements anymore."

okay well maybe im out on a limb here, but i think youd be with me when i say that if i am being asked to pay thousands of dollars, i expect to see it in writing in a paper bill. i had no previous idea that they had done away with paper billing. i was told "we notified you by email that we would no longer have paper billing".... okay, if i had no previous reason to look at my junk university email account, how would i otherwise find out this information?????

thats my issue, the real lack of communication with the university, not the dollar value of the charge.

other reasons i am considering moving include but are not limited to

-climate. cold is one thing, life-threatening cold and a majority of weather that is unsuitable for flying is something else.

-cost of living/housing/wages. my research on the internet indicates that oklahoma city is roughly 10% cheaper to live in than grand forks north dakota. i find the wages to costs here in grand forks to be non-conducive to a working student trying to pay their own way.

-lifestyle/setting. i am not a small town person. OKC is a city of 600,000. thats much more to my liking and will greatly enhance my overall quality of life. (subjective, but valid in my opinion)

Isn't LRD's identifier MLRD, or does that still depend on what W can con the congress into?
