People still willing to work for free...

This would be like a vascular surgeon willing to work for free after spending years and a plethora of hours in training and residence.

"Vascular surgeon, Duke Grad. Will conduct open heart surgery for free. Maybe even throw in a stint and triple bipass if needed. (TO PROBE MYSELF!) That is no shizzle. I am willing to move anywhere for the job. I am a hard worker with exceptional surgical technique and dedicated to my profession. I graduated from Duke and did my residence with the top surgical team in the country."

What kind of friggin sense would that make?!

Sometimes, it's just a typo. Sometimes, it's a Freudian slip.

May all those who have gained a license to charge in my profession and still offer to fly for free "probe themselves." :)

LOL Ooops. Typo. Should have been "prove".
Hilarious when I read the whole thing now. :buck:

Watching my flights again Taylor?!?!

Nah, just trying to bring myself slowly from the wonderful world of not having to see an airplane or pack a bag for 3 1/2 weeks to hitting the road again on sunday!

Like pre-stress. Gotta work yourself back into it step by step or risk a myocardial infarction!

What an idiot. They just spent tons of money getting their licenses and will fly for free. What a dummy. And they have CFI!? WTF go find a CFI job that pays. Someone should knock some sense into these morons.

When there are few/no jobs, staying current and eligible to get a flying job can be expensive. While others are out there paying to fly and stay half way proficient, this guy is doing it for free and possibly able to get another job down the road. Not dummy at all.

I can't say I blame him, if I was looking for a flying job, I would probably do the same thing.

Back when all these helo schools were advertising on the radio with messages such as "there's a massive supply of helicopter pilots" I kept thinking to myself ... how many helicopter pilots does the world really need?

He's smart though. He didn't post an e-mail address, so only employers can contact him. Not other pilots that want to shoot him a message to point out the error of his ways......:D

People will 'work for free' right up until the point where they have a 0330 show time, the plane is full of MEL's and there's moderate ice reported at cruise altitude for the duration of the trip.

...or when they have a first flight of the day on the last day of a trip in the dead of winter with no APU and an outside air temperature of -18 C.

Actually it's mostly because they're hacks who can't handle a real airplane.

I mean come on son, not everybody gets to fly an F-117. Some people have to settle for UH-60's.

You WISH you were man enough to handle the -60. Yeah baby, 120 kts, 20', 120 degrees out wearing chicken plate for 9 hours. Now THAT'S flying. Gee... I wonder why pilots don't want to do this for 20 years?

Aw heck no! I know you don;t want to go there.

1) Put an airplane pilot in a helicopter -- call EMS. Put a helicopter pilot in an airplane and watch it fly.

2) I'm pretty sure the F-117 pilot who was in a hurry to get back to base, blew off the E- escort, and then got to tour the Yugoslavian country side thanks to a 1960's technology SA-3--I'm pretty sure he wasn't calling the HH60 crew, who delivered his PJ rescuers, "hacks." Last time I checked, there are no more F117s in active service. They are parked in the NV desert.

Damn right. Don't forget MOPP4.

When the GOM was hiring, a CFI with 1000 in an R22 could start at $48k with a 7 on/7 off schedule. How does that compare to XJT, RAH, and SKYW?

Weeeeelll, kind of. I had a helo pilot turned airplane student who did great, except for when it came time to land. He kept getting high and slow. Every. Single. Approach. I tried to tell him the thing wouldn't hover...

I can vouch for the airplane pilot in a helicopter though. My instructor earned his $$ my first lesson or 10. I would have been in a smoking pile of steel and moving parts after the first 5 seconds!
