Payload Optimized

Is there any way to look up if a DL international flight is payload optimized, and if so, what that would mean for non-revving?

Thanks!

Not that I know of. It means that the chance of getting on are significantly reduced if already full. Where you going?

It's like a "historical template" that load planning has on particular flights.

I'd say a large percentage of the time, it's slapped on flights that it really doesn't need to be designated as 'payload optimized' and if the load planner is doing his job, everyone will be ok. Whenever I see that on my flight plan, I'll generally call the OCC and ask if we really need to do that. Most of the time the answer is no.

When i did international flights, they'd assume the worst possible scenario and designated the flight based on that. But no, we're not taking off with a tailwind, we will have an extended taxi time and the winds are heavily favorable to get butts in seats and cargo in the bins, so we'll have the OCC reflect that.

Note of caution, there are some non-rev travel facebook groups and they're heavily full of poo when it comes to the topic.

You...have...load planners?

Cool. ;)

No, and no one would know it was PO until the FP is sent a few hours before departure.

Not the flight plan, the load plan. The flight plan isn’t available until about 1 hour prior for a domestic and 1 1/2 hours prior for an international flight.

"What do you mean, all of your flights are stay-at-gate? Release the brakes bro!"

"Can't."

Speaking of which, anyone have experience with DL out of CDG? Nearly all of the flights say they may be payload optimized. Looking to use CDG to come back from Italy in late September. Looking forward to dealing with the AF agents in CDG.

The last European airport I’d fly out of is CDG. If you’re in Italy, why not fly out of an Italian airport?

Find the airports DL flies to that aren't a hub, from CDG... I'm not sure if PIT lasts until September, but IND does...

You’re dealing with Air France employees. They’re French. Nuff said. If you’re in Italy why not try Rome, Milan, Venice, Naples, or Pisa?
Italy can be a nightmare on regional priority. I found cheap tickets from Rome to Paris and the girlfriend has always wanted to see Paris. We’ll spend a day there and then gamble with the French agents coming back. Just way more options from Paris

Keep going North to BRU.

CDG is non-rev "Never Never Land". It is absolutely impossible to determine where you are on the standby list, the agents are absolutely heartless and the answer is always "We ahh FOOLY BOOked".

They’re favorite phrase to say to NRs?

“Et ez not pozzible!”

Schiphol flashbacks!

"I'm going to the jet. I am working the flight"

"EET EESH NOT POSHEBULL"

"Yes, it is possible. See look, here's the door code, I'm going to the jet"

"EET EESS FOOLY BOOKT!"

"Great. I'll be on the jet. Oh can you service the water?"
