"Pay Pilots more than Cab drivers" Article says...

Couldn't get any of the open time if I wanted it. We've still got guys that were displaced to FO, so I'm not a big fan of picking up open time until those guys are back. I'm on reserve, and reserves can't pick up open time. We can pick up another reserve day, though! Oh gee, please? 9 hours of airport ready reserve? Can I?

Odds are good that open time will be going to reserves anyway. It's not like the line holders with 90 hours can pick any of it up. Then when guys start timing out or calling in sick, they'll cancel flights or extend/JM guys. Oh wait. They can't really do that since those people might go over 100 for the month.

Just gulfstream it.

Were the displacements street capts?

In case you're interested in what a cab driver actually makes, one of our rotor instructors worked for the local company over our quiet Christmas. It's all self-employed with a leased car, and it varies, but he took home 200-400 a night, with a little more on Christmas day and New Years. This is in a fairly small town.

Technically, no. They were FOs with a really short upgrade. Like I said, this time last year we always had vacancies go unfilled b/c of lack of FOs bidding for it. They either didn't have the time or they didn't want to sit reserve. Reserve sucks, but it sucks less than FO pay.

Those FOs that had the time must of had a heck of a side job if the extra 25 Grand a year was not worth sitting reserve:p

I actually make the same as a senior FO as I did as a reserve CA (within $50-$100/month), plus I have a schedule.

I'd still rather be a CA though

No, reserve here is just that bad. :)

It is just that bad. Nothing like giving the company free time at the airport. Nothing like getting extended into your day off. Nothing like having a "sliver" of reserve added to your schedule (for notification purposes, yeah right!; also known as the sliver of death!). Nothing like waiting 58 days between trips, or having them give you an out of domicile reserve "assignment" via two deadheads. Nothing like only having high-speeds in open time to be covered by reserves. Nothing like $1000 a pay check.

I encourage anyone here to please please apply and accept a job at Pinnacle the minute we're hiring.... the more the merrier - you'll push me up out of reserve.... perhaps...

Starbucks at Newark is hiring, if anyone is bored on reserve/hot reserve there!

As an X-federal controller, I can tell you that training pay for me was $8.00 an hour with no per diem. I found it hard to believe that a forklift operator with no highschool GED could make more than me as a controller. Be careful up there as you will hear the developmental controllers hired off the street with no college education.. Just another one of my $.02

Looks like after our pass benefits get shallacked, we might have problems getting people to work here.....
