Pay 2 Fly program

I haven't met one Silver pilot that isn't a douchebag, thinks of themself as God's gift to aviation, and has poor skills, both decision making and aviation.

Your observation is hardly limited to Silver. There are too many pilots matching that description in EVERY segment of aviation.

Let me take a stab at something. You're an employee of Silver, yes? I have a 50/50 shot here, but I am curious.

It seems you are making that statement simply because I challenged your opinion. That's a pitiful debate technique. In response to your question, I don't work for Silver. I'm just someone who gets annoyed by unsubstantiated generalizations.

And, if you'll excuse me, the reason why I equate Silver with GIA is because the pilots I know who have Silver on their resume were former GIA pilots. They all have one thing in common to me - I don't want to fly with any of them. Yikes. And there you go off the deep end. Some of us there were hired and had no connection to GIA except for the fact that the company we worked for was operation out of their assets.

@moxiepilot

Next time you are near Memphis, let me know. I'd be more than happy to let you fly with me and realize that all Silver (or former Silver) pilots are as you described.

I know you are entitled to your opinion, but that blanket statement stepped on the toes of several JC members.

Pray 2 whoever you believe in up there that no-one finds out. I don't get it. People come on asking about these programs...your conscious is already telling you it is bad joo joo but you still ask. My advice. If some said person ever did one of these...LIE. Make up some cool story about where you got your flight time, and why pay, I hear Great Lakes is putting Chinese students in their left seat for free!!! Ooooooo turbo time! :smoke:

Actually, I didn't. I asked because I got that feeling from the tone of your post coupled with that being your first post. You can challenge me and my opinions all you want; everybody's got em....

That's a pitiful debate technique.
Actually not a debate technique - Go reread what I asked....I said I was curious. I wanted more CONTEXT as to why you are formulating your responses, so that I can further determine the the reasoning. So, please enlighten me as to how I was using that as a debate technique? I can't even see how you would stretch my asking if you worked for Silver as the "your argument is invalid," type of approach...

I hardly think I went off the deep end. I stated that every Silver pilot I have ever met is a douchebag and has also been come from GIA prior to that. A few of them that I knew paid for that opportunity. While some pilots might have come in with a clean nose, Silver still carries the stigma in my view.

The facts are that Silver DID carry over management and employees from GIA. It was a rebranding of a tarnished image. Don't blame me for Silver not being able to shake off that reputation.

People feeling offended is going to happen every now and then, and I'm sure when we meet you'll realize I'm not that bad of a guy either. But it does not change my perceptions (and others), right or wrong, that the previous reputation of GIA is something that is not easily shaken from Silver.

Unfortunately, we've all seen the rebranding of places that employ the same management and screw pilots under a different name. Blame the industry, not the messenger.

I should add @ctab5060X and @DPApilot that I am sorry if you are offended. But you cannot change my perception of this part of the industry. The OP asked about P2P programs, of which GIA is a good example as to what becomes of the pilots and company. Because Silver bought the assets and rebranded after the BK, it is linked to GIA. Just like when pilots cross picket lines, people remember things for a long time that can negatively affect an image.

By your logic Southwest is tarnished by ValuJet.

Well last time I checked Southwest didn't drop an aircraft full of people in ground due to piss poor operating practices and then had to buy another airline to use their operation cert and name to get away from the stench !!!!

Dude, all regionals suck. Fact is, there is no such thing as a "positive image" in the regional industry.

How many Silver pilots have you met? I've met probably 10 or 20 of them while in CLE and IAD, and all have been very nice... Not douchebaggy at all... You went off the deep end, just own it.

ValuJet 592 had nothing to do with "piss poor operating practices." The crash was a direct result of the criminal negligence of a separate maintenance contractor.

OH you mean the contractor that ValuJet was paying and was suppose to be providing proper oversite on to make sure that they were following on what they paid for, yea nice try , piss poor operating practices..................

Umm... That's not how it actually works. Normally a contractor holds the proper authorizations for doing something a company relies on the fact that those authorizations are actually issued in good faith. ValuJet certainly had their share of safety issues (and plenty of scabs) but the blame for 592 was pretty much all on SabreTech.

(And yes, I know the NTSB said that ValuJet should have provided better supervision of SabreTech in their final report)

the NTSB more than named them they were named as a probable cause only second to Saber tech !
