Past medical history

Hi everyone. I am very interested in becoming an Air traffic controller, however, I know the background and medical check is very thorough. In high school, which was about 5 years ago, I was going through some stress at home and developed some anxiety and depression. I went to get help and saw a psychologist and one time saw a psychiatrist. I was given medication to try, but at the time it was never prescribed. Only samples were given to me, so no written record of the medication. I was only on them for a short amount of time, about 3 weeks, and didn't like how the meds made me feel. I since then haven't had any more episodes and feel completely better. In my whole life I can only think of one pill that was prescribed to me and that was only because during the 3 weeks I took medication I went on a trip and forgot my samples, so the doctor wrote me a prescription for one pill. Will this history disqualify me right off of the bat, or do I still have a chance at becoming an air traffic controller?

There probably is a record. They should have documented it if they gave it. The FAA may make you get copies of your records.

Thanks for the response. Will that automatically disqualify me or do I have a chance of still getting hired? If so, just based on medical history, how good of a chance do I have of them letting my past slide?

I guess I am just wondering if I should give up the dream of being an air traffic controller, or go for it if I still have a chance.

They will look at the records and since it has been so long you will probably be OK.

Does FAA use data mining such as D2Hawkeye or Caremark prescription records when granting medical clearances?
