Anyone here renew their passport recently? I have an appointment to do it in person but just noticed a ALPA letter from 2020 saying crew members can’t renew in person anymore. Also if you renewed in person were you able to hold onto your current passport? Sorry for the dumb questions, just haven’t done this while working for an airline before.

your company likely has procedures for expedited returns. Get a letter from company, mail in all the money and your old passport,
And you get the new one in a week or two.
 
I renewed mine last year. My company supplied a letter, I did it in person at the DTW Passport office. It was painless and I had it within 2 hours.
 
Actually just got back from doing this.

Current turnaround times were showing 6-8 weeks. My company SOP says 6 weeks Max. Didn’t really feel like going through the channels of seeing if there would be an exception for a what if* scenario since everyone at my shop seems to be leaving.

Passport agency told me they’d accept me for a same day renewal if I had an intl trip in 5 days. Well I magically decided to have a trip to an intl destination within the next 5 days. Only issue was the only renewal office that had openings was in HNL. So a quick beach trip was made. Can’t complain and I have a new passport.
