Passenger attempts to blow up Northwest Airlines flight..

Re: Passenger lights firecrackers as Northwest Airlines flig

Seeing the flight came in from AMS, the TSA had little if anything to do with it.....But we'll see what the end result is....

Awesome.

Now everyone gets to be sniffed by the bomb-sniffing dog, after going through xray and having to take their shoes off.

Re: Passenger lights firecrackers as Delta Airlines flig

If a TSA dog starts humping your leg, what is the protocol? Kick him off? Let him finish? Fake orgasm? I don't want to do the wrong thing and get thrown in GITMO...or Illinois, whatever they are using now.

We have a bomb dog at one of the other stations from us. A Labrador....nicest dog you'd ever meet. Turns out, the dog washed out of attack dog training, so was sent to bomb school. Apparently great at what she does.

Re: Passenger lights firecrackers as Northwest Airlines flig

However, back to the original point of the thread, any time you get 253 people together, the odds are pretty good that there is at least one mentally unstable person in the crowd. This event just confirms that principle.

Well there's more than 253 people on JC so I wonder who the mentally unstable ones are... hmmm...

Re: Passenger lights firecrackers as Northwest Airlines flig

I always save those stories for when I'm about four cocktails in at NJC. :)

Re: and there's the terrorist link....

Report: Terrorist link being investigated in Northwest firecracker incident

ABC News is reporting that a Nigerian man said he was directed by al Qaeda to explode a small device in flight over U.S. soil. Minor injuries were reported in the incident at Detroit's airport. | Were you on the flight?

The ABC report said the man was apparently on the government's no-fly list of suspected terrorists, attirbuting that information to a "senior intelligence official."

And yet he was still let on the a/c...

Re: Passenger lights firecrackers as Northwest Airlines flig

Well crap. :( I hope it blew up in his lap.

Re: Passenger lights firecrackers as Northwest Airlines flig

senior intelligence official

Betchya a dollar, it's off of someone's crackberry that was a secretary to the secretary of the department of labor sub-lieutenant that KNOWS it must be accurate! :)

Well the foiled plot that spawned the ever effective liquids ban came out of the UK if I remember right.

That wouldn't surprise me a bit!

Like "I was in the employee cafeteria, and I overheard... ...and he plays golf with a guy who is in the office next to (name) so it's comin' man, it's comin'!"

Re: Passenger lights firecrackers as Northwest Airlines flig

Someone PLEASE tell me this is off a blog or forum:

An in-flight emergency was declared when a fire indicator light when on in the cockpit, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The pilot asked for airport rescue and firefighting services, and for law enforcement to meet the flight at gate, the TSA said.

Does the A330 series have cockpit indications of cabin fire/smoke? The only indications that we have fire or smoke in anything other than wheel wells, engines or cargo compartments in the cockpit, are flight attendants having their vision obscured from reading People Magazine on the jumpseat that call the cockpit and say, "Hey, it's cold by one-left and I think we've got a fire, what time are we landing and what's the gate?" ;)

Prob just a blog-ism......just like the part about the pilot wanting LE and ARFF to meet them at the gate......as if he'd taxi back with a situation like this, post-landing.

Who knows...

The suspect told authorities that he had explosive powder taped to his leg and used a syringe of chemicals to mix with the powder that was to cause explosion. This is of concert because it is a method of mixing that is consistent with terror techniques.

and there is the smoke.....to all the diabetics, take your insulin before entering the secured area of the airport. All needles will need to be disposed of prior to security.... ;)

The A330 has ECAM messages (Airbus EICAS) about Avionics, Cargo, & Lavatory smoke detectors. Nothing for the main passenger compartments because ... well, duh.

Re: Passenger lights firecrackers as Northwest Airlines flig

I just got a push update on iPhone from the AP that read "...tried to blow up the plane but failed"
