Passed my A-320 Checkride... off to JFK for IOE

ClearedForOption

Displaced... again.
Well, after 5 and a half loooooooooooong weeks down here in hot and humid Orlando, I am now a qualified A-320 SIC... (as of an hour ago) one more random class to go tomorrow and then it's off to JFK for my IOE next week. It feels good to be done with this part and I am really looking forward to flying the line once again.

So... if anyone knows of a open crashpad in JFK, I'm going to need one in a couple of days.

From jumping through hoops for a WIA grant for training to A320 qualified in one year - not too shabby! Congrats!

Congrats buddy! Somewhat jealous...let me know if that hiring window opens again. ;)

Thanks... in a weird way, I'm jealous of your gig too. Although, maybe they'll buy Triple-7's here. (I'm officially starting that rumor... you heard it first here from me!!) Not that I didn't make the right choice (I hope) for long term QOL/pay/etc. I really did want to fly the heavies around the planet.

Rumor is that the application window is going to open up here again... soon(ish) They are going to send out a email a couple of days in advance so that we can let everyone know who would like to apply - I will make sure to PM you when they do so. (and post it here on the jobs board... unless someone beats me to it)

And... no matter what the rumors say about qualifications etc.: I was hired without 1000 PIC and without any internal recs. (nor was I invited to the open house) So, anyone who meets the mins should apply. You already have the 'no' - all that's left is the yes.

Thanks! Well, closer to a year and a half if I wanted to pick nits... :) I know... the world is a crazy place. As soon as I finish my IOE I am going to have to send them a note and thank them... (again) and explain that the ATP/Type that I was able to get funded directly led to be being where I am now. It would be great if that program could continue to help other out of luck pilots get back on track.

You too have good news... I hope that you are enjoying your IOE. Hopefully it goes quick and smoothly.

For anyone who might be losing their job: My JC Workforce Investment Act Guide/Experience write up from last year (I ended up qualifying for a ATP/Type Rating... lots of hoops to jump through, but worth it in the end - the only thing I would change is I would have gone to Texas for the 737 type rather than getting the CE500 locally - not that it matter now)

You made the right move. Trust me. We have captains leaving here for where you are. That should tell you something. Hoping things will change for the better here since we're (supposedly) on the cusp of a TA, but I've heard that before. Best of luck on IOE. :)

Congrats!

Just a question, when was your avatar taken? Is that after the Hawks won or the Bruins?
