Part-time work at the majors

Hi Guys, I'm wondering if it is possible to work "part-time" for a major airline. If so, how does pay/upgrading work?
Thx

Major airlines don't have 'part time' pilots. Though I bet they wish they did because then they wouldn't have to pay benefits & all the other amentites that come along with a full time job.

A lot of airlines have part time F/As, but I have yet to hear of one that has the same for pilots.

Part time F/As generally are not hired AS part time F/As though. (With the exception of Midwest Airlines, formerly Midwest Express, and probably a handful of others.) They are regular F/As, on the senority list with everyone else, who simply bid and are able to hold part time lines.

I haven't heard of 'part time' pilots either. My airline has (had?) "auxilliary flight attendants" which more or less are part time.

The only 'part time' of sorts ar guys with national guard commitments or that work five days a week in the training department who only fly the line occasionally. But then you're working more than the average line pilot.

FA's can line share at most airlines.
Pilots.. well if you bid inside 5-10% from the top some months folks at my company get 19-23 days off which is kind of part time.. But of course with their seniority they could be 777 Captains and work as much as the rest of us.

I did FINALLY get a decent month under PBS next month. 20 days off!

Phew. I guess you could call that part time. But not really hehehehe.
