Part 91 FOs - WI

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I still haven't been offered a position. Everything seemed to go well, the only hiccup was my scheduling issue. They gave me the opportunity to make it happen, and I have, called and left a message or two. No response yet. I bet they're still interviewing to see if there's someone who's schedule may be a little more flexible into Sept and Oct when they really start flying their pants off. Haven't given up yet, phone call a week until I hear something. It was still a pretty great experience and opportunity. Hope it works out! Anyone else on here atleast get a call for interview?

Yeah I have a friend who interviewed with them last week. Said he was supposed to hear something this week. He is also from Wisconsin. To my knowledge, if you went to St. Cloud, North Dakota or are from MN or WI you get at least some preference.

Yeah I heard a lot of the SCS guys went to Menards. Good luck to your friend, I'd be interested to hear how his experience was?

Well . . . . . .

Called HR back today after not hearing from them in a week and a half and I'm guessing they've got someone with a better schedule, they said they've filled the slot. I have it on good authority, though, that they'll have another position open soon. No idea when they'd fill it. Lucky dude whoever he/she is that got it!

Next time

Yeah I just found out that my buddy from SCSU got the job

Funny story,

So apparently the guy, your buddy, that they hired is ALSO a Diver Driver and works at the dropzone in Door county. My boss is in Door County this week working on his tandem examiner rating and our 182 is leased to them. So there he is talking to the pilot about his airplane and mentions he's going to Menards, and he was like "No way, my pilot applied for that job as well. Thanks for not taking my pilot!"

Haha, funny coincidence!

Ha ha yeah thats him. Small world. I'm from MN and flew for Southern Minnesota Skydiving in LeSueur last summer. Heard you guys on the radio all the time.

In my opinion, for an establishment such as Menards, 22.5k is way too low. Especially given that it looks like they're looking at guys with ATP mins.

I'm sure pay increases fast, however starting at 22.5k leaves a lot of digits to catch up on.

I am curious about that CE-750 though:)

I know of several guys who have left Menards after a couple years to go to a regional. One of the most recent just came to Air Wisconsin a few months ago and talking with him it sounds like the pay was a big factor. I'm guessing the FO pay doesn't go up nearly as rapidly there as it does here because otherwise why make the move? He also mentioned that the schedules can be very tiring and monotonous (a lot of EAU to DPA and GYY). But for a young single pilot it may be the perfect opportunity to get that Citation type rating and land an awesome corporate gig some day down the road. Definitely presents better networking opportunities in that sector of the industry than flying CRJs does.

lemme get this straight... you applied, interviewed and really WANTED the job, yet you chose to stay with your current sky dive gig? not sure I understand! i would have quit dive diver driver job right away if offered the job with Menards!

Here's the deal. I would have loved to drop my skydive gig, however I'm the only qualified pilot to fly the caravan full time. I didn't think it was fair to leave this company high and dry during a part of the season where they expect high volumes of traffic. If we had more pilots to take the slack, I'd have no problem with leaving. It's about loyalty and commitment. That being said, I did have several conversations with my boss and we came to an agreement that he would work with me so that if hired, he could reschedule the days I was unavailable and so on, but that never came to fruition. Make sense?

Bravo! I applaud you! At least some pilots giving their word still means something. Never burn the bridges... Good job!

Wow that is commitment. Honerable my man.

Good for you! I was just wondering,,, didnt know your current gig depended on you so much. You definitely did the right thing.

I'm sure they'll understand and I'm looking forward to new possibilities with Menards in the very near future. Thanks for positive remarks guys!

So resurrecting this from the dead. How do you log SIC in a one pilot aircraft? I have an interview with them on Tuesday. I'm going to see if I can get them to let me work part time.

With a pen? Or digitally if you're into that.

In all seriousness, log whatever you want. It's your logbook. Whether your future potential employers will look at it as valuable time is their choice. Some companies/HR departments will not know any better and take it without question, others will discount every hour without a second thought. I'd find out if their company procedures require two pilots (i.e. They can't even fly it single pilot, whether single pilot trained or not) or whether they just throw someone in the seat as a feel good measure similar to a junk 135 department. That would help immensely in justifying otherwise useless time.

The question was more, how do I log this so I can get my ATP or a 135 captain position. Company procedure requires two pilots and there is some sort of indoc. Not sure if it would comply with 91k.
