Part 121 Remote Dispatching ist Kaput!

Also. (if I remember from when I did my time at the Mormon Air Force) when the initial legislation was being brought up, the end of remote work was to be set a year after this bill was signed. So there’s still some time for some spatchin in spandex.
The bill was specific when it came to 121 air carriers in other places.

I do not think this was an oversight...congress most likely intended the regulation to apply to any air carrier...which would include supplemental and 135...because it closes a safety loop that has always been left open.

When the regulations were written, no one guessed that companies like FlexJet, VistaJet, Wheels Up, JSX, etc would EACH fly as many flights daily as a regional airline. By inserting an aircraft dispatcher in operational control of any flight carrying passengers for hire, Congress creates jobs and increases safety. The FAA couldn't just say on its own, "Aircraft Dispatchers are now required for all of these operations" but now that Congress has added this section to Title 49, the FAA has a congressional mandate.

Our NAS is busier now than it ever was before, and the administrator is beginning to issue regulations and air carrier certificates for UAM/AAM companies...and one of the big questions has been about operational control of these flights. An 11 person workgroup is actually established by this bill which includes an aircraft dispatcher to promulgate further regulations in this area.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

WHOA...I'm going to go look at this a lot more closely.

I don't think anyone here has yet caught on to the wording in this section...

Anyone notice they used the word "air carrier"?

Part 135 operators are also Air Carriers....
No you're not the only one. Surprised EJA lobbyists didn't get this wording specified as 121 only. The perception of 135s being mom and pop shops with maybe 3-5 airplanes is just that: a perception. For regulatory reasons, it helps to be seen as small, for marketing reasons, brag all you want about having one of the largest aircraft fleets in the world!
