Palm Treo Software

I've got two things that are, as far as I'm concerned, invaluable to me on the road.

Airline Pilots Daily Logbook. I can throw my schedule into this program from our scheduling website and it'll have all the times in there, hotel info, crew info, etc. etc. It's a replacement for the little red book you see a lot of guys carrying around. The best part about it, for me, is that it drops all the flight information into Logbook Pro when I get home and sync my PDA so I don't ever have to update my logbook. You can snag it at http://www.logbookpro.com

I also use eSkyguide (http://www.eskyguide.com). It's probably worthless to you, but as a commuter it's saved my butt a few times. It's a program that contains airline schedules so I can try to work out two leg commutes to work and back home. The database is updated once a week and I can download it from my Treo so it's pretty easy to keep up to date. It's $30 a year, but worth it's weight in gold.

Snagged APDL. Thanks!

If you have unlimited internet access, you can always just use eskyguide.com and get stuff from there. Also, aviationweather.gov is probably the best source of free weather. Finally fly.faa.gov/ois/ will give you flow and delay information, often times before your dispatchers get to it.

Thanks but don't have the unlimited internet. Cingular wants 50 a month for it. Is it cheaper whoever you have? My contract is about to be up!

$15 a month for me @ Sprint. Although I might have gotten in under a special program - and it isn't the "fast" internet... but fast enough for checking the WX and flights home and etc.

I have Sprint. About 500 any time minutes, unlimited nights and weekends, 500 text and unlimited data transfer is about $50 a month (with an airline discount).

Thanks for the info!

Does skyguide also show cargo flights?

Just picked up "Call Rec" - an automatic call recording software for 5.95... it's on "sale" at treonauts for free if you buy anything that's 4.95 or more. (use the coupon code CALLRECFREE)

I hope that it will come in handy... an old friend (a career FE) @ Southern Air once took me aside to tell me something very important about the aviation business:

He said... "First and foremost, always record every conversation you have with the company and second, if you ever take Viagra, what you want to do is take a small knife and cut it in two and give half to your wife. It works for her too."

That conversation has always stuck in my mind.

I've downloaded flight schedules for several airlines to my Palm. It's good to have for commuting. Most airlines have them downloadable to computer or PDA.

If you happen to use FLICA for your schedule, you can get your schedule downloaded directly to your Palm form their website.

Google has google maps for smartphones. It is the poor mans GPS. It shows you your position within half of a mile, all of the streets and gives you directions from your location. It is pretty great. I have it and use it regularly when away.

I highly recommend the Google Maps for the Treo. You'll never wonder where good food is in an unknown city again. :)
