OTC Sedating Medication waiting period

I've been reading AM-400-92/1 which mentions waiting 2x recommended dosage intervals before flying. I've also noticed Dr. Forred's posts about 24 hours (sounds much safer). Apparently now the FAA is sending out notices to some pilots about waiting 48 hours after taking some OTCs that were listed on their 8500.

I'm just wondering if there is an up to date FAA document that nails this down? I'm doing some research on the subject, and it seems the FAA is self-contradicting on this subject.
