I have a minor cold that I need to nip in the rear. Throat soar, stuffy/runny nose, but not that bad of a cough or congestion in the ears.

I have been taking DayQuil and Airborne but was wondering if there is something stronger I can take OTC that is safe to fly with. When I walk down the OTC aisle it makes my head dizzy with all the stuff out there!

You can take DayQuil inus but not the other DayQuil products. I would recommend the Airborne, Claritin (it is not sedating) and Afrin as a nopse spry to open the ears (do not use for more than 5r days). Push the fluids. If you take DayQuil Sinus, you can use ibuporfen but don't use Tylenol because it is already in the DayQuil Sinus. NOTE: Do Not take more than 4,000 mg of acetaminophen daily (it kills the liver).

So drop the DayQuil and just put in the Claritin instead and go with that and the Afrin?

I saw this on the news the other week - what are some rough guidelines, if I take 2-3 advil in a day, is that too much? Or is it when I take 2-3 advil, with other medication that has it, I start to get close to that mark? If so what meds should I avoid mixing?
 
Drugs containing acetamenophen or Tylenol. You have to read the labels and the total daily dose should not exceed 4000 mg for an adult. Advil is ibuprofen, not acetamenophen.
 
Just for future reference, I have come to swear by Airborne. I take it at the first indication of getting sick, and so far, it works. Of course, it could all be a head game for me :) . I do go back and forth from FL to MN every week, so I think I'd be more prone to sickness, and so far so good!!!
 
It is non-sedating. We used it all the time in the military.

I recommend carrying it in your flight bag in case you get out on atrip and develop a cold with some ear blockage. It will help you get out of trouble.
