Actually, it depends.
My airline uses facial recognition which, quite honestly, might be the equivalent of a water witch. But if you get to the gate and they’re not using photo ID, all you need is a ticket.
Domestic, they do a look at your ID coming through security because it’s not that hard to defeat if you’re determined and have certain intentions.
Previous to KCM, the other pilot swapped out my ID with his, as a joke, when I was in the lavatory and I didn’t catch it for almost two days.

Wasn’t it only a few years ago that you first had to show anything other than a boarding pass at security or is my memory going? Seems like we made it between 9/11 and pretty close to now just fine without that particular bit of surveillance state.
