One Way car rental discounts?

Anyone know any discounts available for a one way rental?

I'm trying to get a car (cheap one) TEB-YNG tomorrow night picking up around 1900 at Signature. If anyone has any suggestions, that would be great. PM is fine.

I'm not above begging. I really want/need to get home tomorrow night and the company changed my travel plans to now sending me home Friday.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Call up the desk directly and see if they have any corporate discounts.

I don't know about discounts, but avoid Enterprise for one ways. They charge the regular rental rate plus something like $.60/mile instead of the flat drop off rate like everyone else.

Just talked to the FBO and Hertz. Going to try Avis but figured I'd inquire here to see if anyone could help a brotha out.

Yeah, we looked into them one time. NO WAY! It was cheaper to pay my day rate for the next day, plus per diem, plus the hotel, plus the airline flight.

And Hertz can't even give me a quote until I drop it off....and I'm not falling for that!

I avoid Enterprise, period. (wait, that's redundant...)

I just don't need 45 minutes of threats about picking up the loss and damage waiver.

FWIW, I did a one way with Avis from DC (downtown location) to RIC and it was $120. It was for personal reasons, and I wasn't happy.

Or their "airport" locations that close at 11PM. The don't mention to you when you make the reservation that they will be closed when you arrive ;)

Way back in the day, it used to just be the $50 drop fee returning to a different city. Seems like everyone charges for mileage now.

Budget is good for one way rentals. (And you can pre-pay a flat rate online.)

Shouldn't signature have a rate with the rental car company they use? Ask the counter girl to arrange it and you'll get a deal most likely.

I rented one way with Hertz 100 miles from dfw with the drop off in dfw. only had my debit card so they had to run a credit check, and hold $200 over the rate of $150 for the small POS car. after returning the car it took a week for the $200 hold to be removed. just fyi.

Enterprise has never done that to me. Lately, I've actually been pretty impressed with their service. I've been a diehard Avis guy for over a decade, but I've really liked my experience with Enterprise the last few times I used them.

I had a car in Tampa this week - a nice Impala - for $10.81 a day.

Your rate on one-ways is going to depend ENTIRELY on the source and destination's market need for cars. If the destination is in need of cars, they'll generally give you a good rate. Same goes if the source is fat on cars. It's all a matter of timing.

Mother of God, that's like an 8 hour drive. I got in to this whole wings thing so I'd never have to do anything like that again. Good luck!

Have you looked into renting a UHaul pickup? Generally one way moves like that include sufficient mileage.

Not for one-ways.

Damn...that's actually a hell of an idea! I'll keep that in mind for next time. Really! I owe you a beer for that one!

As it turns out, I had to divert on the way in to TEB after holding for-ev-er and........well, by the time I got in, that hotel room and an early AM airline flight home just sounded too good to try for driving.

Thanks for the ideas though, folks!
