One Pass Select

Anyone have experience with One Pass? It looks like my employer offers it and it may allow for day passes like Active and Fit once did. Definitely worth it if I can reduce the day passes I need to pay for while in trips.

Currently still have A&F simply because it is cheaper than my local gyms membership.

I use OnePass and have multiple gym (LA fitness, Chuze Fitness, Crunch Fitness, Snap Fitness, Golds, YMCA) memberships through it. There are different tiers that have different participating gyms. The highest level includes Orange Theory, F45 etc.
I use the classic tier and that allows for memberships at many commercial gyms, and the rate is less than the cost of a membership at one of these gyms alone.

Highly recommend taking advantage of it if you’ll use it on the road.

I went ahead and bought it. Used it for one day pass so far. They have gotten so expensive I see it paying for itself with at least two day-passes a month. I'll probably end up collecting memberships as well over time 😂

Called Lifetime in downtown Chicago on Sunday about a day pass.

$100.

For a day pass.

Screw that noise.

What’s wrong with hotel gyms?
A lot of them are nice - we have a few in our system which are great.

But many others lack proper equipment for the program I’m on, for one thing. Sometimes I can sub an exercise if I’m pressed for time but I prefer having the right tools for the job, so to speak.

And walking to a local gym and working out among the locals is a little bit like hitting a local coffee shop or restaurant in a new city - it’s something to do that is good for me.

Kinda like you and dinosaur museums. :-)

Makes sense. I’m an exercise bike guy, can’t stand it when the hotel gym doesn’t have one or it’s broken.

They range from a few cardio devices with dumbbells up to 25 lbs (we literally have a hotel with this exact setup 🤦‍♂️) to full blown subscription gyms. This alone makes them very inconsistent. Add in that they are typically poorly maintained and you start to just get tired of them.

Also it is just nice to be able to complete your normal workout routine rather than having to "make due" because all they have are dumbbells and a cable machine missing most of the attachments.

If you don’t know then you don’t know.
(Sorry had to take opportunity to change up iykyk)

I find some of them to be acceptable, but many are not. It depends on what your goals are of course. Maybe I’m a bit of a gym snob in some ways, but I structure my training around what’s available at home and on the road; I’ll bid layovers based on gyms.

Hotel gyms are usually a couple treadmills and poorly maintained machines, along with a limited set of dumbbells. Legit gyms have a much broader range of dumbbell weights, variety of machines, and the biggest differences are squat racks and bench presses. It’s rare to find those in a hotel gym, and if they have it it’s usually a smith machine. I’m guessing for insurance liability.

TL;DR more range in weights, squat racks, bench

Well said! I love the vibe of working out around others in a gym, even though we don’t interact. It just motivates me more.
