The 767 is a fantastic flying airplane. Unfortunately it was buried under a heap of "what in the hell do I do now?" because of the international operation.

BTW, I think I'd much prefer the French controllers just talk in French rather than English!

It's a "Boeingism!"

Boeing gear handles have an off position where all hydraulic pressure is removed from the system. The gear are then held up mechanically... so on takeoff you raise the gear handle to "up," then once the gear are up and all lights are out you move it to "off."

. . .and be certain to move it slowly and deliberately to the Off position and not to the Down position. . . I've heard that can happen. . . when someone is new to the airplane. . . only in the sim, of course. . .

I always wondered if that would be a problem. I have a hard enough time understanding english sometimes.
