Old vs. New Seminole - A few questions

When I was at FSI two years ago I managed to avoid flying the old Seminole so I only have an information manual for the new model. I’m going to go get some time in a 1989 model PA44-180 and I was wondering if the speeds for the old are the same as the new? Are there any other major differences?

I would like to start memorizing speeds and procedures again, but Im not sure how far off my materials are. Im pretty sure that the FSI procedures were the same for both aircraft and only the information manual was different.

A few of the emergency procedures were NOT the same for the old and new Seminole at FSI when I went through. Compared to the old checklist, the new one did not have a good flow on certain emergency events from what I remember. I did Gemini in an old Seminole and saw manifold gauges, starter switches, etc in some strange places compared to the orderly look of the new Seminole. Also, I believe the old one doesn't get a forward CG as easily as the new one, and the old one has an accelerate stop distance chart.

I'm sure one of the guys on here will have the performance numbers for you....my books are all packed up.

Were there a different set of procedures & checklists for the old Seminole? I’m speaking of the Flight Safety VFR and IFR procedures & checklist (plus the amplified checklist) that they printed.

Only things that are different are- switch panel is on the left side wall and some gauges are in different places, engine out and some electrical failure checklists have slightly changed (for the worse I might add). One big difference is the airstart procedure, old seminoles don't have the accumulator so you have to power down the radio stack and hit the starter. That is all read and do so no big deal.
Airspeeds and normal procedures are the same.

Great. Thanks for the info. Its been almost two years since my multi/instrument/commercial check ride and that was the last time I logged any twin time. Im going to plan on at least 5 hours of dual to get back up to speed and then Im going to fly solo for 40 more hours to get up over 100ME. Funny thing is that I have just glanced at the procedures and V speeds and 90% of it is back in my head.
