Old props

As I buttoned up the plane this morning, I was wondering what is done with props that are beyond sharpening/refinishing?

Perhaps swapped onto the 'Barn Find' of the week?
I learned at someone elses expense that like new props cannot be flwn Commercially if they're too old.
Very few hours, but like 7 years since rebuild.

That prop has plenty of life left in it! :D

For some reason my company doesn't dress the props unless it's a serious nick or gouge. They're like serrated steak knives. :P

I can attest. I saw one that was REALLY bad one day, but about a week later the airplane pulled in with a beautiful new 3 blade.

Metro prop? Not too bad if so, got lots of life left. Those things don't even get beaten up from reverse it's just idling that does quite a bit of that.

Somebody lost $13,000x2 on a Baron.
Very few hours, but 7years on the RB
I think the Governor on the Bonanza we were going to use was a 6 year part for 135. It was fine for 91, but needed an overhaul for 135.

When the owner saw the quote for the overhaul, he started ignoring phone calls.

We were watching iron man last night. Tony in his workshop had a cool two blade polished prop in the background. Anyone know where to buy one? Google didn't come up with much...

I have one that the prop shop red tagged because it had a hairline crack around the hub mounting hole. Couldn't bear to dispose of it. I'm trying to come up with a way to incorporate it/build around it, to create a custom bumper for my 66 Chevy C-10 pickup.
