Hello everyone!

I was wondering about the text book material that everyone uses at OKC. Ive heard they give it to you on like a cd or something.

Is this correct?
Would anyone be willing to email the text information that the academy gives you for studying or what you go over in class? If your willing let me know and ill send you a message with my email.

Please anyone. I would really like to be able to look over the information!!

Thanks!

Yes, they give everyone a CD with the material. But no, I would not recommend studying it ahead of time. It's very very boring, and you will have ample time in class to learn it all. If you learn it now, you will have nothing to do for 5 weeks.

:yeahthat::yeahthat::yeahthat:

i know me and nathan sound like broken records, but you dont need to study before basics. its a 5 week course that should be taught in no more than 3 weeks. its SO slow and SOOOO easy. dont worry about basics.

That would probably get us kicked out anyway. Someone took a picture of a test (we take a test after every section in our block binders) and now we cant have our cell phones on in class. Also the person who took a picture of the material was thrown out. The 7110.65 has all the info you need if you really want to get ahead. However I agree with these two... it would not be a great idea to do it ahead of time...

I, too, would agree.

If you are really chompin at the bit, grab an AIM.
You could always study the light gun signals.......

I could suggest a good book to read.

It's called "Avoiding Common Pilot Errors: An Air Traffic Controller's View" by John Stewart. I picked it up a few days before starting the academy. I didn't get too far into it but it seems like it goes into a lot about what we learn in the first block test or two and provides real-world examples. It has a lot of stories but also teaches you a lot about the equipment, flight strips, phraseology, regulations and procedures, airspace, etc. It's only about $20 at most local bookstores or I'm sure you could find it for half that price online somewhere.

I would recommend this to both pre and post academy people.
