Ohio State and Eastern Michigan

My flight instructor is considering going to OSU or Eastern and would appreciate any information about either of the schools. Any opinions from students who attend one of these schools or has visited them. Thanks for your help.
 
What is he looking to study? I'd assume not aviation since he's already a CFI, but that info would help us help you.

HA! Eastern Michigan? WHEW! That's a good one. First of all, I wouldn't go to Eastern Michigan if my life depended on it. It's a horrible school overall that's gone downhill in the last 10-20 years. It used to be a respectable school, but now it's just a pile of crap sitting over in Ypsi until someone brings it back up to par. I've been amazed with the horrible teaching that goes on there, and don't know why someone would want to study much of anything there (I dated a girl my freshman year of college that went there, she quickly transfered to Western).

OSU does some good research, and I've used them in some papers I've written. As far as flight programs go, don't know anything about them. I would tell him to stay as far away from Eastern Michigan as he can. Just my opinion of the place, though.

Eastern has a good education program, but unless (s)he's hell bent on staying on the eastern side of things, I'd say go to Western Michigan for teaching, it's better than Eastern's program. Stay away from OSU. (have to say it I go to U-M
