Well, when several crews set off EGPWS for a Rainier tour, the shop prohibits any sight seeing. Codified into the FOM and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
And people click on money/fares and the occasional mileage guy who sticks to an airline. No airline stayed in business because of giving a quickie visual from the air.
The risk VS reward ratio just isn’t worth it.

It's a good point, as is the Rainier post - but, it's a nice treat for folks in the back when, --** IF ABLE **-- the announcements are made for some landmarks or cool views up ahead. Sometimes it's a pretty obvious NYo-go, or DCon'tBother, and just a gamble on the winds and the side of the jet those customers are all on.
Again - If, they even care and have the window shades up to observe.
Workload permitting, that's what the extra gas may have been tossed in for. We're not tourguides, but it can be nice for those finishing their own trips to point out the views.
Just my own opinion.

That’s not what extra gas is for.
Most people don’t care. They don’t want interruptions in their wifi/movie/show. The ones who care, they have the moving map to look things up. Most just don’t care.

Some of our pilot group had to be put on blood pressure meds over it.
