Oh Ryanair

I'm fortunate that it's super rare I deal with very long taxi times or ground delays, so my fuel burn numbers on the ground mindset is still stuck in CRJ days, 14 years ago. I ended up taking off from SAN last week with about 200 pounds over min take off fuel because a) the plane was parked on a slope at the gate, which meant as soon as we pushed back, 1200 pounds of gas just disappeared (we literally spent 10 minutes trying to figure out if we had a fuel leak) and then we did the normal San Diego taxi shuffle (which reenforced my decision to not single engine taxi) but burned a whole lot of gas with the stop go thing. I'm going to have to adjust my mindset a bit to adapt to the much higher fuel burn numbers I've got in the plane I'm in now compared to the CRJ.

I always hope for it to happen when the skipper is in the lav so I have something to do besides ask the FA “so….. do ya commute?”

Or tell them ”No, I drive to LAX”.
Explaining to them pilots don’t have a SAN base. It’s crazy how many FA’s think it’s a pilot base because it’s a flight attendant base.

Oh, San Diego

Only 2 of the 10 crew members got randomed... so I'll call this vist a win.

Last time I got randomed there I got to add to the adventure by getting barked at as I walked over to PreCheck demanding to know if I actually got randomed before coming over to cause the agents there to actually have to work.

737 drivers…

What is the least you’ve landed with??

5.0 Planned. By the time to the gate about 4.9.

That super duper early 5am GEG-SEA on a perfect day, where we knew there wouldn’t be delays that early, get off quickly, get in quickly, no 25 mile finals. Middle of week (not as busy) day, no weather, no holding, nice clear VFR.

I’d say it all depends. Theres a few times I’ve had a long transcon in the winter (eg, BOS to SFO) where we were going with max fuel and still planned to land less than 6 by the time we get there. Once it ended up with a divert to SLC for more gas.

I heard a rumor one of the big 3 landed in PHX with around that quantity earlier this year, so probably happens more than we hear about on the news.
lol even with the blight of a leadership team peeled off a package of Oscar-Meyer slices and a venture capital so-called "activist investor" stamping around on the board, Southwest still doesn't get into the big'uns club.

I guess not until they get an airplane that has more than one aisle or can be in positive longitudes. "Ey! Hey Boeing! Is there any way you can make this 'EICAS' thing just show a clock and nothing else? Preferably a round-dial clock."
