Oh gawd

A desire to follow them is. People look for the “strong man” who can protect them, and the sociopath has a very easy go of presenting himself as that strong man.

I can get behind that logic.

But they'll ultimately fail you because trauma halts growth. Their body grows and ages, but their mental development ceases and is frozen at whatever age that they were physically, emotionally, sexually traumatized. They're essentially a child in a grown-up's body. That amongst many other reasons is why they're so self-destructive in nature. They project strength, but it's all a mask/overcompensating to hide all their many constellations of inadequacies from others, but more importantly themselves. They're only ever in power to get their own needs met, not anyone else's.

Never follow a sociopath, it never works out in the end. History proves that time and again.

I know that you're not down with Korean luxury cars. But Hyundai's luxury arm Genesis is really cranking out some really beautiful and more importantly reliable luxury cars. Example the G70 & G80. If I had the money and was in the market for a luxury car, those two cars would be in my purview.
Missus has her eye on the Genesis line when she finishes NP school.

Ooooooooh, NP I know that world well. Family practice or psych?

Can't go wrong with Genesis, beautiful cars. They need their own dealerships though, not sure if they're still selling them out of Hyundai dealerships.

Looking more at wound and ostomy care. I don't know much about the nursing field.....

Genesis is now getting their own dealerships. The closest one to us is in Bloomington, MN. Hyundai dealer in Fargo also sells some I guess....

Ahhhh, this why so many older pilots act like the children they were at regionals.

Yep! Another sure sign is that sociopaths often flock to positions of power and prestige. As a means to make up for all their many glaring inadequacies & insecurities. In aviation being a Captain (in power), especially at a major and making six figures (narcissism) = cockpit authoritarian.

I’ve had a few ”hot under the copI lots” that were in a fevered rush to get back into the left seat and I think I even told one “You know, you don’t even know how many times I’ve had to bite my tongue and let you figure simple operational basics and you‘re ready to jump into the left seat?” :)

Everyone wants to be Captain until it’s time to do captain •.

I’ve only been a captain for 2 years at my regional but I’m so ready to be in the right seat again for a long time at SJI. Gimme dat wide body international stuff!

For better or worse, at some point in our societal evolution, we collectively decided that sociopaths were to be celebrated rather than shunned.

Chickens come home to roost...

Goldman Sachs used to test for it and gave preferential hiring to candidates with more predatory instincts...

People look at me like I have three heads when they tell me "you'll upgrade in 3 years!" and I'm like "eh we'll see if I want to." Yes I know it's a lot of money in the long run, but I need to mellow out and enjoy life a while after my regional CA experience.

Yea maybe for someone who hasn’t upgraded at their regional may like it as their first captain experience. I’ve tasted the water already and it’s not that good! I love being in the left seat and working thing the way I like it to be run but I think I’m going to enjoy being back in the right seat as well and just watching and learning from good and bad captains.
