Oh My: Delta Asks Staff To Volunteer To Clean Sky Clubs
Delta Air Lines is short of contractors in its Atlanta Sky Clubs, so it's now asking employees to volunteer to wipe down tables and more.

Can you put that on your Delta app as volunteer experience?
Might as well let qualifying passengers (e.g., semi-frequent fliers) volunteer to tidy-up the joint in exchange for comped entry to the lounge for the next six months or w/e. Call it a loyalty building experiment.![]()
Meh it's the entire package.I honestly wouldn’t even be surprised anymore. I’ve been incredibly disappointed with the difference in quality between US Legacy business lounges/cabin compared to pretty much any Asian carrier. I just don’t get it, quite frankly it’s embarrassing.
This is, in all seriousness, more of a $15/hour type of thing, which, I’m guessing they wouldn’t need to send for volunteers if they/contractor paid $15/hour.Can you put that on your Delta app as volunteer experience?
Yeah I'm spoiled hanging out in the SEA lounge all the time. Went through DTW the other day and was like ewwww this just ain't gonna do.Meh it's the entire package.
Pre-covid Delta was seriously upping their game for long haul first/business as well as their new lounges.
The A Concourse Skyclub in SEA is fantastic. The new one in SLC is probably the best with JFK being a close second.
Yeah that's gonna be a no for me dawg.![]()

There does seem to be an issue with getting folks to come to work right now at certain airports and other businesses. ATL in particular has many closed shops/restaurants now when the passengers could really use them, long lines for everything that is open.
Is it the extra unemployment that the conservative crowd states? Lingering concerns over COVID? People just not wanting to do those types of jobs anymore? The realization that the previous wages really sucked and they need to come up? Don't have the answers but something needs to happen.
No. No. No. You have to be completely and utterly in favor of one reason or another. None of this "all of the above" mumbo jumbo. Sheesh. What kind of nutty web forum is this? It's all of the above. Certainly, people are abusing the system, but I think a lot of people realized it isn't worth $8/hr to put up with that crap. There are probably lots of jobs closer to them playing double that. The Federal unemployment benefit ends in a couple of months. I suspect this low level worker shortage will go longer than that.
This article lays out a pretty good summation of the facts:

Millions Are Unemployed. Why Can’t Companies Find Workers?
U.S. employers in sectors like manufacturing and restaurants aren’t finding enough people to hire, threatening to hold back the country’s economic recovery. Among the reasons potential workers are holding back: fear of getting Covid, lack of child care and enhanced unemployment benefits.www.wsj.com
Right? Supposed to scream at the other 'side' and be unreasonable at all costs.No. No. No. You have to be completely and utterly in favor of one reason or another. None of this "all of the above" mumbo jumbo. Sheesh. What kind of nutty web forum is this?

Do keep in mind that it is a violation of federal regulations for a beneficiary to accept unemployment if they've been offered a "suitable" job.Well that's the thing. People on either side aren't actually wrong in this case. Left: Dirtbag companies need to pay more. Correct. Right: Lazy bums need to quit scamming unemployment. Correct.
You're right though we're so polarized we can't all agree that there are a multitude of factors causing problems, and all of them are pretty easy to solve.
I was furloughed by my employer, but they have now reopened and asked me to return to my job. Can I remain on unemployment?
No. As a general matter, individuals receiving regular unemployment compensation must act upon any referral to suitable employment and must accept any offer of suitable employment. Barring unusual circumstances, a request that a furloughed employee return to his or her job very likely constitutes an offer of suitable employment that the employee must accept.
While eligibility for PUA does not turn on whether an individual is actively seeking work, it does require that the individual be unemployed, partially employed, or unable or unavailable to work due to certain circumstances that are a direct result of COVID-19 or the COVID-19 public health emergency. In the situation outlined here, an employee who had been furloughed because his or her employer has closed the place of employment would potentially be eligible for PUA while the employer remained closed, assuming the closure was a direct result of the COVID-19 public health emergency and other qualifying conditions are satisfied. However, as soon as the business reopens and the employee is recalled for work, as in the example above, eligibility for PUA would cease unless the individual could identify some other qualifying circumstance outlined in the CARES Act.
George Costanza would disagree.Do keep in mind that it is a violation of federal regulations for a beneficiary to accept unemployment if they've been offered a "suitable" job.
