One simple fix could make airplanes greener

It's all about eradicating airplane contrails -- those white streaks you see criss-crossing the skies after an airplane has passed overhead.

These cloud-like formations can have a cooling effect, acting to reflect sunlight that would otherwise heat the Earth. Contrails can also block outgoing heat from escaping the earth -- essentially acting like a blanket, trapping heat.

Maybe this belongs in the unpopular opinions thread, but sunlight reflective contrail type stuff is definitely something we should be investigating. It doesn’t solve ocean acidification but it could certainly be a good tool for reining in temperatures.

This is seriously my biggest concern with he whole climate change debate.

Someone it going to come up with a "cure" that will make things worse not better.

That’s why the common sense thing to do is cut emissions and figure out capture and storage. We know exactly what the consequences are of going back to, say, 200 ppm. If we wait until even the MAGA/the climate is always changing crowd realizes there’s a problem the chances that we try and screw up something desperate get way higher.
