Oh Alaskan

I want a whip. Or maybe a riding crop or rubber truncheon. Something I can use on insolent FOs.

Or visible tattoos, that would work too.

We can have visible tattoos now. No more than 1 per arm (smaller than ID badge) and any neck and face tats can't be visible when viewed from straight on.

But no beards.

What’s interesting about the whole tattoos are okay but beards are no longer okay:

AS is now flying to places like Japan. Where depending where you go tattoos are not okay but beards…who gaf?

I know I've been mostly facetious in here, but I'm not going to lie, this whole thing literally makes me a little bit sad. While I was flying, HAL and AS were always on the "maybe someday" list - especially HAL because of how cool the flying was. I even lived on Kauai for awhile and loved it and rode back and forth to HNL frequently then so the idea that I could do that again and not be hand-to-mouth was always "cool." Seeing them merge is kind of interesting because it seems like Seattle Airlines is on track to basically ruin a lot of the things I thought were cool from the outside lookign in. Legitimately, I always thought was cool about HAL was 717s and you can have a beard and be home every night and fly lots of short legs (I know I'm weird, but zero desire to sit for 5 hours). I could be wrong but the merger changes at least 2 out of 3 of those? And I wouldn't be surprised if inter-island flying was neglected? That's a pretty major damn change.

I mean, I "get it" some C-suite dude is making busy work for himself, but yeah... it's kind of sad and further evidence to me that "it's true, all good things do come to an end."

They must have compared notes with the Southernjets Chief Pilot offices. Especially the one in New York. Same exact playbook. We even got "reliability" letters mailed out to people that called out sick. Sorry y'all are having to deal with that too.
Now, I do have to add context by saying that I call out sick when I get sick, usually 2-3x a year, and haven’t heard anything about it.

The nerf bat comes for everyone, eventually.

Ya'll are mad about beards, I'm straight up mad about AS coming in and jackin' all of Hawaii's 787's. No more Pualani on 787's... no more 787's. It was such a beautiful livery on that bird.
🤣 That’s a touchy subject on some Facebook pages. Some Alaska guys get defensive when people say they’re going to erase the Hawaiian culture. In reality Alaska is going to do what makes money regardless of what they’re saying now.

We just got zed benefits on Hawaiian last year and I took them out to HNL. I was throughly impressed with their service and hospitality. Kinda regretted not throwing my app in there when I was in the grind. They seem like a really good workgroup.

Thinking about it makes me remember this scene from Iron man 2.

:D

Nick Fury: "Whoa, whoa, whoa. He took it? You're Iron Man and he just took it? The little brother walked in there, kicked your ass and took your suit? Is that even possible?"
