Officially a CASA SIC

Thursday afternoon I passed my CASA SIC ride after a 13 hour day. Time to start logging some TSIC time. I am absolutely loving this job so far. It is a LOT of physical work, along with a different type of flying. Today I got to do my first real world hold at an IAF while we waited for four planes ahead of us to depart, or arrive. Breaking out of the clouds to see an entirely white landscape can be disorienting the first time for sure. Right now I am flying out of Nome, and it is gorgeous up here. When I get home I will post some pictures. But for now I have a map showing where I have been on my first two days on the line. The Gambell and Savoonga run was pretty cool. A lot of water out there to cross.

Congrats! I know you have been waiting awhile for this, so it must feel great to have it done.

Thanks guys! It has been a long wait, and I am finally happy to be here. I have been having a blast. Feels good to finally get paid to fly.

Congrats Alec! I've watched so many bush pilot reality TV shows in the last couple years, all those destinations are pretty familiar. That's pretty sweet you guys fly all the way out to St Lawrence Island! Are we gonna be seeing you on Discovery/Nat Geo soon? :D

Thanks! I certainly will put some pictures up when I get back to town.

Right now I am in Nome. Tomorrow we are taking our CASA down to Bethel to cover their flying for a few days then will be back.
Oh wow... so you're living in Nome?

Nice. Its like you're all grown up now. Congratulations.

Good to hear that your years of commitment and waiting was worth it. I know that feeling.
