Official Thread: Waiting on FOL from CHICAGO PEPC(3/23-3/27)

Re: Official Thread: Waiting on FOL from CHICAGO PEPC(3/23-3

Got through. Bad news. Failed MMPI.

Yeah don't worry you'll be ok. They'll send you to a shrink for re-eval which may take a while but I'm pretty sure that it has a high success rate.. some people just don't test well with computerized, standardized stuff.

Keep us informed!

Re: Official Thread: Waiting on FOL from CHICAGO PEPC(3/23-3

Here is a question that I hope someone has some type of answer for. If we went to the PEPC to speed up the process, why are they still reviewing our medical stuff. I assumed that if the flight surgeon signed off on everything once we finished our physical that was it. Now I know that some of us probably had to get additional information to the FAA (including me) but that would only mean those were the additional things they had to review correct? The reason I ask is because I had surgery done on my ear, I provided every document I could think of when I went to chicago. They did not ask me for additional information about my surgery, the doc just said that he was greatful for all of the information and he wished everyone came as prepared as I did. I assumed that what I provided was acceptable and that was it. The only reason I bring this up is because when I called in to the medical division they stated they were still reviewing everyone's files. To finally get to the question, what are they still reviewing?? If anyone knows please let me know so that I can put my mind at rest.

Re: Official Thread: Waiting on FOL from CHICAGO PEPC(3/23-3

i'm pretty sure the mmpi is part of the medical clearance. since there was the delay in the evaluation of that test for all of us chicago PEPC people I have always just assumed that was what they were talking about when I was told that my medical was the only thing holding me up.

That is what I assumed as well. I guess I just let my mind wander. Just wanted to see what other people thought.

Re: Official Thread: Waiting on FOL from CHICAGO PEPC(3/23-3

On stuckmic as well as on here there have been several Chicago PEPC attendees with HR reps who have been kind enough to give some somewhat descriptive explanations of the current situation and every one of them has been more or less concurrent with the notion that it had to do with the MMPI results delay.

Re: Official Thread: Waiting on FOL from CHICAGO PEPC(3/23-3

So, when are they expecting the MMPI results to clear? I'm anticipating we will start to recieve more information towards the end of this week and next week. Just a guess of course.

Re: Official Thread: Waiting on FOL from CHICAGO PEPC(3/23-3

Does anyone know if they call you if you are not accepted or do not pass one of the clearances? I see that some people got called late last week for failing the MMPI, but if something else went wrong, for instance you were declined because of your credit history, do they let you know or are you just left hanging?

I'm sure they let you know. You have so many days to appeal something like that, so I'm sure they notify you of the issue so you can make a case for yourself.

Re: Official Thread: Waiting on FOL from CHICAGO PEPC(3/23-3

I FAILED THE MMPI !!!, I got my call on friday too, oh well, my hr rep said this could delay the process by 60 days, no worries but she said that was it for my medical, they asked me some questions about my credit so I hope that doesnt come up after I go and see the shrink for the mmpi

That is really the only thing that sucks about failing that thing....it just adds MORE time to the whole process.

Re: Official Thread: Waiting on FOL from CHICAGO PEPC(3/23-3

Since people are finding out whether they failed, is it safe to assume that our MMPI results are in and we can expect a class date within the next couple of weeks???

There are still PUBNAT2ers around without class dates. Don't hold your breath unless you're going to a facility in desperate need of trainees immediately.

Well as much fun as it has been talking with you folks I will have to leave this thread, why you ask??? Because I failed the friggin MMPI!!!! I can not believe I failed that test. I am in a state of shock, that was the last thing I thought I would ever fail. Anyway I am going to take myself over to the failed MMPI thread. I wish you all nothing but the best. Make sure to tell us when you get your FOL's.

Tons of people fail that and still progess. I think they have you sit down with a Dr. to discuss more in depth the areas that you botched.

Your journey is not over because you failed the MMPI.

Re: Official Thread: Waiting on FOL from CHICAGO PEPC(3/23-3

Thank you both for the words of encouragement. I really feel as though I tried to be too perfect when I took the test. I probably could have been more honest with my answers instead of trying to look like a super candidate. Hopefully the doc will see when he/she meets me that I am qualified mentally to do the job. As I stated before I wish you all nothing but the best and hope you get your FOL's ASAP. I will keep everyone here informed as well.

Re: Official Thread: Waiting on FOL from CHICAGO PEPC(3/23-3

Who is it that we call in Chicago? Is that information in one of my letters?

Re: Official Thread: Waiting on FOL from CHICAGO PEPC(3/23-3

Contact the regional office at (847) 294-7491 (this is only the number if you went to the Chicago PEPC) and let them know you are checking on your medical clearance. They will ask if you are a pilot or controller and will then transfer you to someone who can answer any medical clearance questions.

Let us know what you hear when you call today.

Best-

This is the very reason that so many people fail the MMPI, but no one else will admit to it. There is a reason that so many questions are asked and so many of them are repetitive. The way you answer some of the questions sets you up one way, and then you try to answer the "easy" questions the way you think they want you to answer them, and your results are then skewed. This is not a test to see if you are a perfect worker. It is a test to see what your personality is -- hence the name of the test: Minnesota Multiphasic PERSONALITY INVENTORY. Did you ever take the Myers-Briggs test before? It operates along the same lines, and too many people think they have to answer a specific way to obtain the results that they assume the test administrator wants you to have.

I'm sure the doc will understand what happened, as they see it a hundred times. You should be more than fine in your re-take, though expect to be there for a while (the re-take is supposed to be much longer), and just answer truthfully. You don't usually get deferred unless your personality type suggests you're a mindless killer waiting to emerge, or you look like you wanted to "beat" the test (which is not possible).
