Mrs. Kidman... I am going to need your assistance on this one!

tLet me Rephrase:

Damn, I chose Terminal only.....I did not know that getting chosen for a terminal had a lower percentage of acceptance than an enroute position.....My chances seem as though they would have been better if i had opted an enroute position......*proceeds to kicking rocks to emphasize the stupid decision I made*

Hopefully someone here might have some insight...

Someone posted over on ATCMonitor that the panels for PUBNAT2 aren't selecting very many people because we're at the end of the fiscal year. I thought that since we wouldn't be receiving TOLs until October and later that we would be the first group of FY 2009.

Here's a link to the original post at ATCMonitor.com:

What do you guys think? I know some of you have contacts... does anyone know more about this?

Seems like B.S.? Why would they care about FY09? It starts in 7 days?

I'm hoping it's just BS, but I wanted to see if anyone else had heard anything about it or if there's a reason these panels couldn't select many people if it's true... or anything explaining any part of this process :panic:

I too am going to call BS on this one. They aren't going to publish an announcement, contract out the testing company, do all this HR paperwork, conduct PEPCs, just for a "few" people. It just doesn't make sense, they know they are hiring for FY09 classes (no possible way to hire for an FY08 class anymore out of this announcement, the year is over) so it doesn't seem logical.

Also I didn't apply to PUBNAT3 because the directions said not too. It said if you applied to NAT1 or NAT2 you would automatically receive consideration under that announcement, and not to re-apply. I wonder if that will actually happen... hopefully it wont matter! :-)

well I called and talked to a atc hr person when I was filling out my geographic preferences to find out how much it would hurt me to put terminal only. She told me that, at this time, there were actually more terminal positions available then enroute. She then said that the best thing I could do when filling out your geo prefs was to list excatly what facilities you would like in the comments field.

So today at School, one of my CTI professors just got back from a Conference with the FAA about their Hiring and he briefed us on the conference notes, here is a few highlights....The Next PEPC is not going to be until November 17.......:banghead:

So if that is the Case, then the Selection panels for the ARTCC's, and not sending out PEPC invites until after that panel is still timed about right.....

Also, California and Colorado are Hiring really heavily right now, so they specifically said those are about your 2 best bets right now. Also Expect A mass Hiring spree to follow Right after the New Fiscal year, they are getting ready to Hire ALL the remaining CTI's that are eligible and a lot more OTS as soon as the Fiscal year Turns ($$$$).... Ohh yeah, they WILL hire an OTS with a Well Qualified AT-SAT score before the CTI with a Qualified Score. He knew about my situation applying for Both OTS and CTI so he said that he specifically asked about the OTS applications taht are in the chutes right now, and I guess they "Hinted" that they were going to be sending out notifications RIGHT after the first of the month..... again, this is still unconfirmed, I have another source confirming this, but it might take a few days.

Some complaints from the Academy were that students were weak in Aircraft Recognition/Aircraft Categorization/FAA Orders (there are more you will need to know than the 7110.65)/Weather. It is VERY STRONGLY suggested you study those before you get to the Academy.

Some interesting Satistics: only about 85% make it past the PEPC (Medical/Security/Physc DQs), of those, only around 73% of Qualified Applicants make it to CPC, and >90% of Well-Qualified Applicants make CPC. Last year, over 2200 poeple were hired, only about 800 CTI, and less than 400 VRA, the rest were OTS. Right now the total Possible Output of all CTI schools is around 1000 per year (more available as more CTI School Get certified), and the FAA is planning on hiring at least 1400 per year until 2017.

I think that is the majority of the Highlights.... If I think of more, than I will make another Post.
