Official: More CMR Furloughs

Soul Brotha'

Off to go do Black guy stuff
I don't think it has been posted here yet but we got notice on Friday that more furloughs are coming. As of right now 59 involuntary and 17 voluntary, which brings us to a total of 76. I thought I would be in that group but I managed to escape the "f" word. I have mixed feelings about this. I'm happy to still have a job but my outlook of CMR is very morbid. I'll be on the very bottom the list now. Good luck to everyone.

Some Fun Facts once this furlough is all set and done...

...Seniority to hold Captain (JFK) will be 9.5 years...

...The seniority to hold CVG FO will be 6 years...

...The seniority to not be furloughed will be 3.2 years...

...Pilots on property = 988...

...Pilots off property = 373...

...Percent of pilot group furloughed = 27%...

Upgrade time at Comair will be:

5 years 2 months longer than at ASA

6 years 1 month longer than at Mesa

6 years 4 months longer than at Pinnacle

6 years 8 months longer than at CHQ / Republic

6 years 10 months longer than at SkyWest

7 years 4 months longer than at Compass

7 years 7 months longer than at Mesaba

and

1 month longer than upgrade at Delta Airlines

(Data from APC tables)

Sorry to hear it, had a very nice Comair jumpseater the other day who was on the chopping block. Sad, just sad. :(

Well this will be interesting.

From the last list, because of retirements, vol. furlough and so on....i was safe by less than 10 people.

During the last annoucement (i'm learning that any kind of annoucement at CMR is going to be a bad one), i went through the phases of being mad about the upcoming furloughs, then my attitude changed to a more relaxed "maybe i'll just enjoy the break" kind of thinking.

When the list showed that i was going to be safe....but only by so few, that brought the idea of being the most junior of JFK reserve, when i live no-where near there. Starting thinking about the costs of crashpad, etc etc etc. And things became un-easy.

But if more are to come-i think many of us are just ready to roll with it.
More senior people going on reserve is probably what will drive them to the breaking point of quitting-which is bottom line what the company wants.

And seeing some of the "more holy than u-im better than you because i just upgraded" people being kicked back down notch, well i dont feel sorry for them-but granted its only a small % of the people that when you looked at your schedule to see their names....it only leads to a long sigh or a sick call.

We shall see, and best of luck to all of us.

Ah and i will see i had alot of fun this week jumpseating on USAirways this week to work-talking to some funny guys i kinda what i needed to put a spring in my step before starting the trip last week.

Sorry to hear that guys, I've got alot of friends at Comair. What date of hire does this take you back to?

The current list of furloughs goes back to July/August 2006..... 'ish

More upcoming......i have no idea.

I forsee another Christmas surprise again this year. I heard Mesaba is taking another hit in December when the leases are up on 10 more Saabs.

Sucks, guys. Why are you always Big D's whipping boy? :(

Because they own us, they can do whatever they want. We are not a contract carrier for DL like SkyWest, CHQ, etc. We are basically DL's B!tch.

I shouldn't say WE, because I don't work there anymore. The seniority number I have there is pretty much worthless. I don't want to be affiliated with Comair or DL every again in my life!

Doug I saw Peety today. Running under Gate 25. He said hello and is wondering what's up with buddy pass. Apparently he didn't get on his flight to Montego Bay. PM next time your in Kennedy..

But but, Being owned by Delta means EVERYTHING! Thats what the ads say!

The ads are full of crap.

And the people that blindly believe those ads & mentality are even more full of it.

The only good thing about working at this airline was that the contract at one point was the best. Its not anymore, but thats fine because the contracts that beat ours are better, and if something can be made better in this profession at this level....good for them, whoever they are. I think its ASA that has the best one now, but whoever, hopefully people get the point.
