Well, it took two weeks, but I got the call this morning, and was offered a dispatch job with Mesa. I know what everyone on here says about them, but I have zero experience, and this will be a good opportunity for me. I start Aug 3. Not bad, as I have had one interview and got the job...

Congratulations! I would just advise you to get some experience (it is good experience there) and keep your resume fresh so you can start sending out resumes when you see other opportunities come available. Even just a few months will make a big difference in how many interviews you get. From Mesa you can look for a position with a more stable regional (SkyWest, for example) or if you can stick it out there a while you can start applying with the majors after a couple of years. Just be prepared for a less than ideal company. Phoenix is a fun town though, if you don't mind the summer heat.
Since I've been away from there for almost a decade, I have no idea what their initial training is like these days...but be prepared for a fast-paced job.

Just 1 thing Avoid long term apartment leases.

sent them a resume, never heard back from them

That's Compass for you.

I sent Compass a resume for a dispatch job back in JUne 2007. Got a reply back in January 2008 saying that they are fullied staffed by this time I was already working.

Well, im just happy that someone is giving an opportunity

It seems that Compass have had their dispatcher openings for quite some time. I don't think a lot of people are keen on heading to D.C., finding a place to stay short term, and then hightailing it off to MSP. I'd think they would be scrambling to fill the slots so they could start a training class before they head out in October. Ah well... hope to hear back from em.

It is possible that you might get an offer from another airline while you are in training. You can still take it if it is a better __________. (Insert your reason here) I know pilots that have done it 3/4 of there way through training. You don't have an obligation to the company and vice versa.

Send me a PM if you want, I've been living here in Phoenix for about 1.5 years now flying and a lot of co-workers and friends live all over the place here in the valley.

I'd be more than happy to give you a few ideas. Congrats on the new job!
