Yeeup, I am moving from San Diego to Grand Forks, the whole nine yards. I will be renting a Budget Truck (like a Uhaul) and tow my Honda Civic behind it. I was thinking of selling all my stuff and cramming as much stuff as I can in my Civic, but then I'd have to buy everything again. I have an entertainment center, bed, bookshelves, computer desk, drafting table, dining table, pots and pans, cooking-ware, a couch...too much to list. It would be a waste of money to sell everything and have to buy it all back again when I arrive in Grand Forks.

I think my move date will be July 25th so that I can start an apt lease on August 1st. I'm looking into Legacy Apts in Grand Forks. $780 a month is CHEAP compared to my $1300 a month rent in San Diego. Prolly gonna get this one:

I will be living with a roommate eventually... in order to help keep the costs down.

I will be entering in as a Sophomore - I'm through with all my general ed except for 3 classes short, so I'm almost a Junior.
 
sorry a little late to the thread.

Definatley get the snow tires man. -(this coming from a native Montanan)

you will be up sh*t creek without a paddle without them in the crap for weather that these states get.
 
legacy blows. i'd live elsewhere. the walls are paper thin and the property manager is the biggest imbocile i've ever done business with. it's nice having a washer and dryer in the apartment but not nice enough to warrant living in that POS. my neighbors hated me because i'd sometimes watch a movie or play music too late (past 10:30p) and they'd be "seriously inconvenienced." i kissed that dump goodbye and haven't missed it a bit. i'd look into the warehouse apartments on university or the freight house apartments on 2nd Ave.

btw having 160hp won't make you lose traction in the snow. if anything, it'll be easy for you to keep grip with such a piddly amount of torque

I have heard mixed opinions about Legacy. I need to sign a lease before I move there. If you have a chance, would you be able to provide me with some phone numbers to good apt complexes??? Price is not an issue.

Yes, you've got that right. It's a 4-cyl, so no torque what so-ever...and you have to rev it up just to get any decent amount of power. When you start out in the lower RPM range it pulls slow but after hitting 5500 RPMs to 8000 redline it pulls hard. It just doesn't have a very linear torque curve like a BMW M3 (my ultimate dream car). I hate front-wheel drive cars as it is, but it's a cheap reliable car for me with decent-enough performance.

If you want something new and awesome, there is the South Hamptom Townhome Apartments. It is between 910-985 a month for a 2 bed/2 bath place. It is huge, has wood flooring, brand new everything and comes with a 2 stall garage. Definitely a place to look into. Call (701) 775-5544
 
I wouldn't mind staying there if 1) I decide to go to UND this fall or next winter 2) have a roommate to share the costs since I'll be a sophmore and wouldn't want to live in dorms with people younger than me and would like to live in a liveable environment

I'd really reccomend the Blizzak tires. I bought a car a few years ago while i was home ( 91 Toyota Supra Twin Turbo), and for whatever reason it has snow tires on it, the blizzaks. While it doesn't snow much in Tokyo, the few times it did, getting my rear wheel drive supra around in the snow was simple. Of course the roads dont get cleared here very well since they're not exactly used to snow.
