Oct 21st Academy Terminal

I received a return phone call this afternoon, she said if I don't have it by Fri. at noon to call and let them know. They're planning to mail them overnight on Thur. Talk about waiting to the last minute..

ditto. I was told the exact same thing on a return phone call.
 
I talked to Robin last week via email. I am no longer staying at my home of record and will be leaving for OKC on Friday from Minnesota. I tried sending her email and calling her and I she didn't respond to me at all today. Hope to here something soon.

I finally got a hold of Robin late Tuesday. She said packets will be in the mail by Thursday. I told her I wouldn't get it in time because I leave for OKC Thursday mornining. Then she advised me to just pick it up on Thursay or Friday at the academy and that I would have to sign in as a guest of her's. I asked her if I really needed anything in the packet for the first day and she said yes. So I will just pick it up. Give her a heads up if you plan to pick it up.
 
Anybody staying at Citadel Suites? I'll be there on Sun. And just a heads up, if you look at our Terminal class starting 11/25 it says our last day is 1/16 but I think we're going to find out it actually ends on 1/20. Nothing like a 3-day weekend before our PV.
 
Good News...today my welcome packet came in the mail via FedEx. No earth shattering information. A travel authorization comes with it so don't lose that. It says for us to show up at the academy at 7:00 am and then goes on for the schedule of the first day. Sounds like its going to be a long day of briefings from different entities of the FAA (Credit Union, Equal Opprotunity, and so on). It doesn't tell us what shift we are going to be on after the first day, but we should find out once we are there. It also has an insert explaining a little bit more about how they are doing per diem. They are paying up to $49.00 a day for housing, and then we get an additional $30.00 after that.

Got mine today too.. Does anybody know the reimbursement rate per mile for driving?

The government rate that I was just given last week by the air force for travel was 58.5 cents per mile. However, unless on you travel order/authorization it says that you are directed to drive your vehilce, you will be given the 58.5 cents per mile or the cost of an airline ticket, which ever is less. Generally its the airline ticket considering its a one way ticket. Expect to be given enough to cover gas and then some...and if your lucky a lot more. Once while driving from Texas to Ohio I was given around $700..and that was a few years ago.
