NYC area flight school recommendation

Hello, this is Orlando mayor Buddy Dyer
A friend of mine in Manhattan was asking for a recommendation on a flight school nearby. He's looking at getting a private. Just for fun, doesn't intend to fly as a career or do anything other than an occasional trip out. No preference on aircraft type, doesn't really care where he's learning, but would like it to be within a 50 mile radius if possible.

I'd like to point him towards a JC member. Anybody here fit the bill?

This might need to go to one of the job boards. I'm sure a mod will move it if that's the case.

Well, if he is tight budgeted I would recommend Princeton, NJ. Family environment on non towered field. No JC CFIs though. If he has some fiscal room let him go anywhere on LI it won't be cheap and fast but enjoyable nevertheless.

That was my trainer at 39N and I passed my checkride in it with AI inop. It's fixed now :)

Solberg Aviation if he don't mind driving + 1 hour. Linden would be the closest and my home airport, but there is nothing there.... (yet) ;)
 
I posted a similar question a couple weeks ago. I've looked at Heritage out at Islip and Panorama in Westchester. Both seem like top rate operations. Heritage is a little further out but can be reached by the LIRR if you don't have a car.
