just graduated riddle in DAB, and I am leaving tomorrow for good ol' Long Island NY back home to find a job. Anyone instruct up there, and any jobs you guys know of would be great. I've been in contact with a few places in farmindale, islip, and even white plains.

thanks
adam

Whats up man. I from Albany and one place I could probably suggest is Richmor Aviation out of Schenectady Airport. I'm finishing my commercial there right now. I know that they are pretty receptive to Riddle grads as they hire a lot of them. They run a 141 program for a community college where the grads transfer right to Riddle. Fleet is mainly composed of 152's for private students, and 172's equipped with Garmin 430's along with a couple 172sp's and a Cirrus SR20. You can check them out at richmorflightschool.com . They have bases at Poughkeepsie, Columbia County and Saratoga also. The main guy who takes care of hiring is named Richard at Schenectady so if you are interested call and talk to him. They also have a pretty decent sized charter company where every now and then they hire their own instructors on to fly their beechjets or King Airs. Out of curiosity what schools in White Plains are you currently speaking with. I was looking for info on them also, in particular Panaroma. Good luck. GO YANKS

one more thing- on May 19th at Westchester Airport the FAA is sponsoring an Aviation Career Day. From what they say a lot of flight schools will be there so it might not be a bad place to show up at with a handful of resumes.

cool thanks about the career fair info. yea i got a call this morning about panorma about setting up an interview. yea richmor has a pretty big charter business, they used to fly into farmingdale all the time when i worked as a lineman there.

GO METS

To keep with the thread... Richmor is a great choice...! Did all my ratings with them and did the SCCC degree. If you want a great place to live and a great area to fly, check them out!

To steal the thread... Louie, I did all my ratings a SCH Richmor! How are they all doing? I'm sure my instructors aren't there any more... (Got done with my CFI in 2000) but off chance here they are.
Dave Willig (my CFI instructor)
Marc McKeon (Comm)
Jeff Zimmring (Instrument and a couple college classes professor)
Mike Wason (Private and proffessor too)
as well as Laura and Lisa in the office.

If any of them are still around tell them Erik Grabowski said hi!

[/thread steal!]

Adam- Let me know how Panorama goes. I want to talk to them about doing my CFI training there if theres a potential for a job afterwards. I obviously know that if you say you will train with a particular flight school most won't gaurantee you a job but as long as there is some sort of chance then I'd be willing to take it. Their fleet looks awesome. I'm just ready for a change of pace otherwise I would probably stick around Richmor too.

Erik- Out of all the names you mentioned only Dave Willig is left. I'll tell him you said hi. Laura left a few months ago. What are you doing now with your career?

Adam- I spoke with someone at Panorama today. Basically he told me that the only training they can do for me as of right now is the CFII training part 61. He mentioned that as of right now they dont have a complex aircraft on their fleet or a multi anymore. I think most 141 programs have their students get their CFII's first and then add on the CFI-A. I could be wrong. I wonder what the best way to go is.

I'm getting my CFII as the initial and the CFI-A as an add-on. Pondering whether I want to get the MEI and THEN the CFI-A. Anything to keep from having to fly the Arrow on a checkride.

Not really "most", just some.

I did my CFII as the initial, by my own choice, part 61. It was, by far, the easiest way to do it!

Whats wrong with the Arrow?

It flies like a brick and handles like a lead pipe during power off 180s. Yeah, that's the short list.

That's the beauty of power off 180s in the Arrow - do an immediate u-turn and you're down!
