I was thinking of creating an NWKRAFT worksheet template for students to complete before each flight.
anything else that I should add to this preflight form? I don't want to create extra work or be overkill but I think it would be a good habit to start out doing.
Okay I understand. Figured it would be something like that. But I just call it all preflight data.
Anyway I did have to do that type of thing in training. Thought it was good, but got bored with it quickly since the only data that changed was the awos/asos. What the card had was an area to record the weather, landing/takeoff distances with obstacles, emergency frequency on the front. On the back there was a data grid for W&B. And this seldom changed since it was always me and a big instructor, with the exception of an hour or so less fuel.
So I can see the benefit of having students use the card initially, but after some time they're likely to just start copying much of the data from earlier flights, minus the weather.
Generic one of SEL. I have a MEL one as well that I'll add later. Click on the "preflight data card" link. "Performance Planning for GA Pilots" is a link to an article that explains it. http://samdawsoncfi.com/Performanceplanning.html
