NWA flew the DC-9–10s (78 seats) well in 2004. Fun to fly as long as you weren’t going anywhere complicated. Hot hot hot in the summer, tho.

Very true. My Uncle’s career was defined by that ‘merger’ - He never got off the -9 all the way up to his retirement in ‘07.

In reality, Orient was always just a paint job. The airline‘s actual name never changed. Northwest had the same name from the Spoils Conference until the merger with Delta.

I could never see that livery without getting "Straight Outta Compton" stuck in my head.

Love it. Takes me back. I was eating Eagle Snacks Cheese Crunch and drinking warm coke at the airport back then. Spent hours just watching airplanes takeoff and land. Even though I fly for a living now, just the sight of those times brings back the mystery and awesomeness of flying.
