Snow, sleet, and freezing rain here in North Carolina today. Guess it is just a crummy day to be most anywhere in the country right now. Maybe it's a nice day in France.

Alchemy, where in central Texas do you live? I used to live in Copperas Cove, right next to Killeen...anywhere near there? oh, and kristie, at least you can see the dirt and still have some leaves on your bushes! when i look outside all i see are a bunch of dead trees and white snow!

Yeap, winter weather here in NC. Around noon today our high temp was about 21 degrees but the wind chill was like 9. Anyway, I'm sure it's even colder now. They're saying that freezing rain may progress into monday for us in NC. I have about 1 1/2 inches of snow & about so far a quarter of an inch of sleet here at my house. Still sleeting & the possibility for freezing rain later tonight.

...and out here in beautiful sunny Southern California we have partly cloudy and 65 degrees, really nice day out.

Here is what it is doing here right now.

Hey, thanks for the help! Now I have another question...where can I find one of those for my area (KSNA), or is it just found in the pilot's lounge?

http://weather.noaa.gov/weather/coded.html

here is the TAf: (terminal area forecast)

KSNA 251804Z 251818 08003KT P6SM BKN021
FM1900 VRB05KT P6SM SCT025 BKN035
TEMPO 1920 BKN025
FM2100 20007KT P6SM SCT027 BKN040
FM0300 20005KT P6SM SCT040
FM1000 00000KT 3SM BR SKC

The shorter version is the metar

You can find anything on here about weather. Just click on TAFs and then type in the 4 letter ident to get the METAR and TAF.

ok what does the TEMPO stand for. I just got done with the gleim part of aviation weather services but it doesnt say what it stands for.
