now an AGI

I passed the AGI yesterday, although not yet got the shiny plastic certificate - the IFO still expects me to go to a FSDO, so I guess I have to wait until I'm next in the US, though I want the cert now - oh well... I guess as long as I get it in 2 years while the test passes are still valid - can I still instruct or do I have to wait until I get the cert / CGI number?

You will have to get your certificate before you begin instructing.

Damn, it sounds like the 'appear in person' thing is to show proof of ID. Can't I just send everything to OKC, even the test passes are on IACRA, so why would I want to issue 'someone else' a certificate to which 'they're' eligible anyway?

Alex.

You will have to get your certificate before you begin instructing.

That is get the certificate issued. You don't need the number to start instructing. Temporary works fine. Your certificate number will be the same as your pilot certificate number, dispatcher, A&P, or whatever it is you have.

Don't take this to mean you can instruct without the certificate. Just because you passed the written test doesn't mean you have the privilege. You'll need to do the FSDO visit to get the cert. Then you are legal to instruct.

I thought that with my pilot cert being in the database, it was almost automatic if 2 written test results also linked to my name.

I'll call a FSDO later, but can't someone go on my behalf, even with me on the phone to the POI while they're behind the counter?

Otherwise I'll be Xmas shopping in Atlanta this weekend

Nothing with the FAA is automatic if you want it to happen.

The FAA is sure automatic when you DON'T want it to happen. Those guys are like greased lightning!

Something in your favor, its like trying to drag a kicking screaming 3 year old down a hall to the dentist office.

If I can remember my checkride, a CFI/CFII are able to teach all ground schools as well, correct? Is there any job out there that wants CFI/CFII AGI, IGI?
