november photo contest theme

gne in prog

Well-Known Member
november's theme- touching down, as chosen by october's winner, gne in prog.

could be a touch and go, a full stop, as long as at least one tire is on the ground.

take a picture of a plane landing, not you in the progress of a gne.

let's have a good turn out this month. last couple of months have been light on submissions.

duration- you have until the 24th of november, midnight denver time to submit.

submit to- jetcareerphoto@gmail.com

once i have all the submissions, i'll start a new thread on or around the 25th for voting. voting will last until the 29th, with the winner announced on or just after (depending on my schedule) the 30th.

other assorted rules-

the photo must be taken by you, during the time frame. honor system on those two.

as much or as little post process as you see fit.

when voting starts, you cannot vote for your own picture.

once you've submitted, you're in. one picture only. no replacing entries later.

any registered user is welcome to submit, whether you frequent the photo sub forum or not.

point and shoot, dslr, or as they use to say in racing, "run what you brung".

the winner will select the following month's theme. so if the voting is nearing the end, and it looks like you are going to win, start thinking about what you want the them to be, as the next contest will start on or around the 1st of dec.

so, go shooting!

Maybe that's because the themes are getting rather restrictive. Case in point:

could be a touch and go, a full stop, as long as at least one tire is on the ground.

take a picture of a plane landing, not you in the progress of a gne.

We really should be stating the theme and then letting the photographers take that for whatever they want it to mean. Let the creative juices flow.
Last month was kind of the same thing, except that the theme itself was too restrictive. There's not a lot of different ways to take an airport overview picture, so I didn't even try. I suppose you could wait around for the right lighting or something, but unless you're really good or really lucky, there's only so much one can do with a point and shoot.

I like the theme "touching down" just don't limit it to the traditional sense.

I think my winning shot would be of an airplane on arrival passing behind a football goalpost.

so landing. something landing. an airplane, a helicopter, a steerable dirigeable, something in the approach or touchdown phase. i thought that one would be easy for everyone as it doesn't require an airplane, as last month's would have been difficult without flying. this one, anyone with a camera and some sort of landing facility nearby can take place.

:yeahthat: "Touching Down" is a great theme. Just don't add the qualifiers and we're good to go.

Crap. Sorry GNE, I'll pay more attention for December. I've meant to get on this. Here's an old shot, but at least I'm trying!
