Not really related to flying but birth control question

My wife started the nuva ring a week ago today (friday) and also started the Z-pak. The nuva ring says you need an alternative form of birth control for the first seven days. I know other oral contraceptives are less effective with certain antibiotics but is this effected by Z-pak? The pharmacist didn't seem to know, and she finished up the Z-pak on tuesday. We definetely don't need a kid and didn't know if we needed to use something else for a while or what the rule of thumb is. Any advice?

from what i hear.. the z-pak definitely affects all birth control including the nuva ring. you need to use alternatives for a week to two after finishing the z-pak.

Sorry, I read the rule. Certainly didn't mean to abuse the forum or the Dr. It has been a while since I have posted in here. I do appreciate the advice.
