Nosebleeds

For the past two weeks I've been getting nosebleeds from 1-2 times a day. I'll just be doing my bussines and I feel like my nose is running and when I try to stop it I see it's blood. It's not like very little blood either. It's quite a lot each time. I have to run it on water for like 5 minutes till all the blood stops coming out. I feel like a little bump inside my nose, which is where the blood seems to come from. I'm setting up a visit to the doctor, but would ike to see if anyone else has had this problem before?

Well, on the one hand, its late summer which is when I used to have the same problem. But that was when I lived in CO and the dryness was a huge factor. Seeing as you're in FL (right?) I don't think dryness is your problem. Could be alergies. Try some saline nasal spray, and if you aren't flying maybe some anti-histamines. If all else fails, stuff some cotton balls up your nostrils.

Get your blood pressure checked ASAP!!!! Blood vessels in the nose are very susceptable to pressure. If high blood pressure they burst very easily. By doing your business, well there are a couple ways to interpret that. 1) DON'T STRAIN (if you are on the can) 2) Are you in a stressful situation when the nosebleeds start??? I'm not the biggest fan of the automatic BP machine found in drug stores, supermarkets, etc, but they are ok, head to the local fire station, the fire fighters would be more then happy to help ya.

Now that bump you feel, it's easier a neoplasm (AKA cancer) or a vessel that has clotted off. GET IT CHECKED.

Either way, a trip to the doc is in order. Good luck!!!!!

I have this problem in the late spring, early summer. It is allergies for me. i use a nasal spray and then i only get about 4-5 nosebleeds a week. I recomend getting your nose caturized (sp). My sister had it done a few years ago and hasn't had a problem. I'm going to get my nose caturized (sp) next spring.

Good luck with the nosebleeds, they are nasty!

It has got to do something with pressure because when I go down to 6ft in the pool that area REALLY hurts. It never did before and now I can't go down that low. They always start when I'm on the computer so I'd eliminate stress. I'll go have it checked out soon.

I honestly don't pick my nose. It just started a few weeks ago and I went to the doctor to find I need surgery like some of you said. A friend of mine in Brazil did it in February and it seems like a quick procedure. Tonight my nose bleed like enough to fill a cup. It was sick. And to gross some of you out more, I was spitting a little blood too as it probably ran to the back of my throat. Nasty stuff.

Yeup, check your blood pressure and see a doctor.

Despite what many folks think, persistent nosebleeds are not normal.

I haven't had one since the 70's. And yes I had bell bottoms back then.

Remember Llyod you have to not be a virgin to get that. So Brian can safely check that off his list!

On a related topic, today in the ED a lady came in with a nosebleed. Her blood pressure was up slightly, nothing to make us think that was the cause, so out came the liquid cocaine on the cotton ball (yes cocaine does have medical purpose), that didn't work. The doc was reluctant to do a bedside cautery (the wimp). Well, we were able to get the fiberoptic cart from surgery so I was able to see exactly what the doctor was seeing. VERY cool!!!!

so what were you seeing?

could the nosebleed also be cause by sinus's at all?? maybe have the doc check for a sinus infection? i used to get those a ton when i lived in florida. never had any nosebleeds until i moved out to arizona (the dryness started it).

if your bleeding that much brian - don't wait for a doctor's apt.. just go! don't be be a fool with your health. my brother learned that the hard way and paid for it with his life. even if it might end up being minor, at least you had it checked.
