Northwest Overflight...the truth comes out!

The guy is creative, but I can't say I liked it too much. It seems like more and more people think that aviation professionals are just a bunch of idiots.

It seems more and more like aviation "professionals" keep giving the media/public reasons to take us like a big joke. Do I like it, no. Do I understand it, unfortunately, yes. :(
 
Who cares what they think? When it comes to work, the only person whose opinion you should worry about is the one whose name is on your paycheck.

If the general public, most of whom couldn't find their ass with both hands and a flashlight, thinks you're a bunch of underworked, overpaid lazy SOBs, who cares?

I don't think that anyone thinks we are idiots. Its all in good fun, look at all the shows that have made fun of doctors. Just because I watch Scrubs doesn't mean I think all doctors are idiots.

People don't fly because they want to. They fly because they have to.

So again, who gives a crap about what they think about pilots and their compensation? They want to get to Aunt Bessie's for Christmas, and they have to fly. And they've shown that they don't give a damn who flies them there because they'll take whoever's $1 cheaper and then bitch about service.

The same people who bitch and moan about salaries of professional athletes also buy jerseys and watch them play.

I don't give a rat's ass what anyone thinks about my compensation. Unless they're the ones signing my paycheck, they're irrelevant.

Nor should anyone else.

Uhhh are you kidding me? Every pilot should care what the public thinks, all those people who "can't find their asses" fly commercially, when they stop our paychecks stop.

I absolutely care what the public thinks because that's the driving force of commercial aviation.
 
Just for the sake of discussion, if you're the captain of a passenger flight and there's a disturbance in the back that you have to attend to, do you want the passengers you interact with to laugh and tell you to go play with your laptop? Or would you rather them respect your authority?

Just trying to show that while respect for the profession can be optional to get the job done and the paycheck signed, it sure can make things easier.

I will gladly pay more money and go out of my way to not fly USAir or any of their feeders. I drove my wife to Miami as opposed to putting her on a Gulfstream flight. Where do I fit into your "the customer doesn't matter" philosophy? Seems I should matter a lot for them.

But i'm curious what the USAir/&Express view story is all about.
