Non-rev etiquette?

He's not a tool... he just wants to know who's on his airplane. There's a right way and a wrong way to do this. Unless an airline policy specifically instructs you differently, you always introduce yourself to the Captain and ask permission to ride his/her jumpseat. That is industry standard and just common courtesy. He got his @ss chewed because he was being rude!

Absolutely, and that's how I would have done it too.

However, we all don't have such flawless interpersonal communication skills... and sometimes people have a bad day/week/month/year/life... 8^)

There are still a lot of people in the part 121 world who don't have a good feel for the etiquette involved in jumpseating. It's frustrating for those of us who rely on the good will of others to get to work.
